Re-signing this guy to a market value contract will be a huge mistake. Dude is too inconsistent, commits boneheaded penalties, and is totally unreliable.

Unless he wants to come back for the minimum, move on. Giving him a big contract would be along the lines of the Jaylon Smith, Demarcus Lawerence, and Nolan Caroll.

Dude has been in the league for 7 years and has 16.5 sacks (yes i know he has missed some seasons). Id much rather give whatever he is slated to make to Von Miller, but we know this FO doesnt believe in bringing in high priced FAs, just to turn around and overpay our overrated players.

Move on
Whats market value though? I think his market might be Josh Sweat, that wouldnt be bad. Sweat was 3 years 40M. Id pay that for Gregory. I wouldn't pay what I thought he would command earlier in the year

Its all about the price. I definitely wouldnt sign him to a long term deal. If he wants around 7million per year for two years I would pay him that.

Gregory doesn’t deserve even a mid tier contract. Too old and too penalty-ridden. How many drug tests has he failed again?

I would love if he comes back, but the reality is we won't be able to afford him. Math is math.

Gregory is important, but in the grand scheme, what does it matter? We can't afford to overpay for the guy, and someone else probably will. Besides, when players get paid around here, they stop playing. We all know that.

Disagree. 4 Diggs interceptions were because of Randy Gregory. The man is a menace & dual threat at DE (can rush the passer and stop the run), and those are hard to find. If you think Randy Gregory isn’t worth 8-10m idk what to tell you but that’s a steal. The 3 players that must be retained are Gregory, Kearse, and Anger.. all assuming the price is right. I have a feeling RG94 is going to get an offer well over 8-10m.

Robert Quinn got a 5yr/70m contract (14m a year on average) and he just flat out sucks vs the run & is the most inconsistent human being I’ve ever seen play football; for example he had 2 sacks last year and 18.5 this year. Randy Gregory is a better overall player than Quinn. He’ll get an offer from a team around 12-13m a year without a doubt in my mind. You can go watch film on these 2 players and see the difference right away.

He is an immature jerk on the field as he proved AGAIN AND AGAIN. Take your stats and stick them. He is a penalty magnet and also cannot control himself.

I agree, unless he signs a cheap deal to make up for his bonehead early years, I let him walk. He is a one trick pony all out pass rush.
and teams use that against him to get outside all the time.

that said I expect jerry to overpay for him anyway lol, he is a long term project for jerry.
this is why cowboys will never win anything, overpaying for guys they should let walk or trade when they could.

Most on the board wanted him resigned earlier in the season. The second half of the season along with all the penalties he committed has really soured fans on him. The disappointing end to the season has soured fans on a lot of our players.

Agree....the experiment is over. When all the chips were on the table in the playoffs....we saw what he was made of...you can't trust that going forward.

After all Jerruh has done for him and stood by him through all the crap, maybe he’ll accept a team friendly contract.I want to retain him, but price has to be right w/ out breaking the bank.

Dude was either high as a kite for our playoff game or he is dumber than a bag of rocks.

Dont really care which, either way I let him walk.

No way I would re-sign him but Jerry will. Jerry does get attached to certain players whether good or bad. He does care maybe to a fault.
Randy and his agent might repay Jerry for backing him but if you have to go through life smoking weed just to function you have a serious problem.
He's immensely talented but very undisciplined and SF took advantage of that.
What would he do with that money? I really, really, pull for him but I have concerns when he gets millions.

Gregory is a nice rotational pressure guy, nothing else. I'd give him the vet minimum with escalators that start at 10 sacks.
