If I were a gambling man I would bet that Sean Payton takes a year off to survey the landscape and figure out what he wants to do. This might serve us better anyway as a 3rd year of disappointment under MM would have Jones ready for a change and possibly willing to let Sean clean house and bring in who he wants.

People were sure Coach Cowher was gonna do the same thing but like many others he never returned to coaching and is enjoying a great career on the Sunday pre game shows……and I don’t blame them one bit. It’s a great gig.

Yah, that was the one that shocked me. I would loved to have seen him come to Dallas.

……I remember the Carolina fans all thinking he was gonna be their next coach because of his residence in Raleigh…….Jimmy Johnson learned his lesson too and never looked back

Check this out.........this ain't going nowhere unless Jerry shut it down with a 100% endorsement of MM for 2022.

If he gets Troy's gig, the salary could be comparable if not more to what he was making with NO. Especially with Romo getting 18M per year. You have to figure the color guy on Fox's top team would be somewhat compareable salary wise. Payton was getting 9M per year from NO

I think if choses coaching over TV, its because he really wants to coach

Difference with Payton is he admitts wanting to coach again.

This sounds the same as a couple years ago when fans thought MM was going to be our savior.

I have no doubt he is taking a year off. Clearly he was burned out in NO and with no QB and salary cap hell he wanted no part of rebuilding. Really cannot blame him. He made the Saints into a consistent playoff contender. Something TWO SB winning coaches (Hank Stram and Mike Ditka) failed to do. For that alone he is probably going into the HOF.

He might find he is happier bot coaching like Cowher did (By the way Cowher considers Jerry a clown and would NEVER have worked for him)

Is this a lame-duck year for MM or what........my goodness. What's interesting is Jerry's letting him stew with out an endorsement. Guess it's Jerry way punishing the coaching staff for the WC loss (lol)

That's my thing what's the point of a lameduck year if it's a third round pick go and get him and build your next draft around his scheme

I don't know how much value he will hold to a team wanting him if he truly does take a year off. He has pretty much indicated that he needs a break, which to me means he just isn't into it. Having a thirst to hit the broadcast booth, combined with the fact a team will have to pony up some capital I'm not sure I would remain interested in him a year from now.

Our beloved coach took a year off and there is a lineup booking his plane ticket out of Big D
