No doubt he has put some talent on the field over the years. Problem I have with Jerry is he doesn't have a model. What are the Cowboys? Some years we are a running team, other years we are a passing team. Defense? Seems to change like the wind. We draft players an adjust our philosophy. A team without an identity is just going to get stuck in the mud and Ol Jerry has been spinning his tires for 25 years.

Yep.

That Milli Vanilli had some great voices too.

Jerry is the GM in title. McClay and the kid combine to do the most of the work.

Jerry is just willing to take the heat so he can have the credit if things happen to go well.

Yes, good or bad, Jerry has to be in the middle of things. That's really sad, here he is, a BILLIONAIRE, owner of the highest valued NFL team, was the owner when they won 3 SBs in 4 years and is constantly being asked his views on the Cowboys, yet that's not enough. He, in his mind, has to be THE REASON they win another SB.

The man's more insecure than I am as a retired "Joe". Jerry, you don't have that many years left on this Earth, if you want to go to your grave being the "owner who hired Jimmy Johnson and won 3 SBs" instead of "owner of the most successful sports franchise ever and owner of a team that won X number of SBs, then you go right ahead with how you're going, you certainly do a good job of self-promotion,,,

Honestly at this point even if he manages to win a SB no one is going to see him as some great football guy anyway.

Right now I think he finally realizes that the main reason he hired MM (his SB win was supposed to make our postseason problems go away somehow) is a pure sham and he is stuck owing the guy tens of millions. That's why he is so pissed.

If you really want to get down to last second happenings, the ref spotted the ball, then reached down again and moved it back a few inches, that took at least a second. Now that doesn't mean they could have scored a td on the one remaining play, just noting that if a second matters, maybe that hurt as well...

He's built good rosters over the years. He's givin us travis frederick, tyron smith, zach martin, dlaw, micah parsons, tdiggs, sean lee, dak, zeke, all people that we have drafted just to name a few. Yes some dumb mistakes like not picking tj watt but for the most part he has did his part in building us a contending team. Now we just need a head coach that can take us over the top
He’s great at the roster building part of being a GM but terrible at the contract part.

Just when we thought most fans were seeing the effects this ownership has had in this era of Cowboys football we receive a reminder of the support that’s still out there for our dysfunctional organization which continues enabling such.

And why our efforts are never done in exposing them for what they are.

while i agree how about we give the current HC a shot not one real season to coach a full roster and 12-5 6-0 in the division and some real close losses to good teams. we are talking margins of 2,3,3, 10, and 6 points seriously lets pump the brakes bit on blaming the HC.. Im more on board of changing the OC, OLC and reshuffling the OL and lets give this another offseason to get beter.

MM is not the issue here players themselves have to be held accountable and the OL and the panties and inconstancy have to get fixed.

It is just a matter of conducting business.

You are an owner. You hire a general manager. Your general manager hires a great coach. Your general manager acquires great talent. Your business strategy pays off brilliantly in the first six years. Three Super Bowls. Four NFC Conference championship appearances.

You retain your general manager, who transforms from a micro-manager from hell to (supposedly) just a front office yes man. During that timeframe:

7-10 years: No Super Bowls. No NFC Conference championship appearances.
11-15 years: No Super Bowls. No NFC Conference championship appearances.
16-20 years: No Super Bowls. No NFC Conference championship appearances.
21-25 years: No Super Bowls. No NFC Conference championship appearances.
26-30 years: No Super Bowls. No NFC Conference championship appearances.
31-33 years: No Super Bowls. No NFC Conference championship appearances.

Now, the National Football League has been around for a long time--must longer than all living franchise owners. Most of these owners, living and dead, have or had egos. At some point in time, those ego-driven owners stopped and thought to themselves:

"My general manager has hired decent-to-great coaches and acquired decent-to-great talent but has not delivered the end results I seek, so I will fire my general manager and hire someone else who I think can get me the results I want."

That type of thought has popped into the minds of most NFL owners for many decades but has not been considered by a few franchise owners. One of those few owners is headquartered in Frisco, Texas. And regardless what anyone thinks he does or does not do exactly on a daily basis in his dual role as a general manager, one thing remains irrefutable:

HIs narcissism has kept his football philosophy in place for 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 33 years. Netting no NFC championship appearances. Reaching zero Super Bowls.

Yeah yeah. I know. "Look at the players he drafted." "It's his ego." "He's greedy." Yada yada yada.

The title of Jerry Jones autobiography should read Jerry Jones: I Had Better Job Security Than 200 Other GMs & Didn't Do Anything With It For 27 Years.
