Right. Drew Brees is only good due to Sean Peyton. I know people can be dumb, but I don't think you'd get 2 people out of 100 that would go with that. Drew Brees was deemed damaged goods in San Diego. That's why he didn't stay. They didn't think he could recover from the injury. It's not more complicated than that. Bottom line is both coaches, Fat Mike and Sean had top end QBs for a long period of time and reached one super bowl. If Sean reached 1 super bowl over what, 15 years with Brees? What am I to suspect him to do with Dak? Some miracle? I'd be quicker to trust a coach like Cowher, at least he got to 1 SB with a garbage QB.

Lol, I never said Drew Brees is "only good due to Sean Payton" so maybe you should go back and re-read? What I said was McCarthy and Payton's situation are not as similar as the pessimists are saying they are. Drew Brees was NOT a Pro Bowl QB in San Diego and only became what he is now after he got with Sean Payton. Aaron Rodgers was literally great the moment he started playing in GB. I'm not doubting that Brees would probably have been the record setting, HOF QB that he is today with another coach, but I do think its fair to say that Sean Payton had a lot to do with Brees' initial development and helped lay the groundwork for Brees to become what he ended up being.

There is a difference between "quitting" and needing a break from coaching. If you have worked long hours in your life with many of those years wondering if your going to have a job, it takes an exhaustion on your body. If you are a family man you will understand that your family comes first, set yourself at home then work on your job.
If he retires and then takes up another job in the same offseason that ain’t a break that’s quitting….

He just went 9-8 with trash and injuries. He also lost a game two playoff games..one to go to the SB on egregious ref calls that were admitted mistakes. Way more than things whined in here. So yeah he’s done a lot more than we have in 26 years
What has he done when his team has been healthy?

It's a job.

If you quit your job at McDonalds and went to work at Burger King would you be quitting on your team?

What does it mean that everybody in the league has Peyton in the first tier of great coaches.
Because he took over a franchise that basically was one of the worst in NFL history and got it to a Super Bowl.
Put him on Dallas with the same record, he wouldn't be considered a first tier coach, any more than Mike McCarthy is considered a first tier great coach for winning one with Aaron Rodgers.

As they say in real estate ... location, location, location.

And Dallas ain't Nawlins. ;)

Hes 9-8 in the playoffs. Again he just missed playoffs for first time in 5 years snd was 9-8 with 4 QBs. 2018-2019 NFCCG where should have been in SB but for a blown call where their WR got blown up. Plus info like this…id take consistently

According to Elias Sports Bureau research, Payton and the Saints rank first in NFL history in average points scored (27.6 per game) and yards gained (391.2 per game) among all coach-team combos with at least five seasons together

He has family in the area, he wants to be closer to family. With a season where your traveling for a huge part of it, any time you can be at home its a bonus. I have worked away on travel for mine, and took a lesser paying job just to have the opportunity to work closer at home. He has mentioned time and time again that he likes the DFW area and has family here, and the fact its the Dallas Cowboys? Who wouldn't want that opportunity? At the end of the day its not going to happen, Jerry is content with mediocre that we seen for 25 years.

I understood what you said. I was exaggerating for effect.

You're definitely right about one thing, do you remember Aaron Rodgers debut? He came in for an injured Favre in 2007 against us. They almost won. Had Favre not got injured the game wasn't shaping up to be close. He was literally better than Favre backing him up.

Maybe Sean did have a lot to do with the development of Drew Brees. That still doesn't change the fact both coaches, BigMac and Payton had a great QB for many years and made one SB appearance each. I don't think anyone with a clear mind would suggest Sean might turn Dak into Drew Brees. So who cares?

You won't find me blaming Dak for our offensive problems since 2019. That's when the pattern started, so it's not just Dak. I just don't think Payton is all that. I've posted on numerous occasions the dopey things Payton has done with clock management, most of which went ignored.
