8....takeaways were exceptional. It would be a 9 if they were more consistent against the run.

I would give them a 7. Outstanding at takeaways and much improved all around. Room to improve? Of course but headed in the right direction for sure.

Truly , if you take a true measure of this defense, i would say a bit above average , 6 on a scale of 10. But when the time was to shine , went away completely, especially we all thought , Gallimore coming back for final stretch and d-law and randy G finally healthy will make the DL strong and with parsons moving up and down , with Osa , Hill, watkins , Armstrong and Goldsten supplementing will be fresh and formidable .

But alas, nothing of that sort happened, it was even worser than before , riddled with penalties .

they failed to make the other team punt in most cases ( Cardinals and SF game ) neither got ton of turnovers .

They were good enough during the season, except for chunk plays. Not good in playoffs with SF until late.
Were they average?
The prevailing thought prior to the season was that if the defense was just average, the offense could make up the difference.
Didn't happen.

I give them a 7 even. I would give them an 8 but I felt Hooker was better than Kazee, Parson was under utilized blitzing, Odigizua (SP), is a better End the DT, DT sucks, #2Cb and CB3 need upgrades. There are only 2 LBS on this team (Parson/Cox)

Last year I would give them a 1. So Quinn did a good job. The only bright spot was Parsons. Kearse was above expectations. Other than the picks this year I'm not sold on Diggs being an elite corner. Too many penalties included 2 boneheaded ones in the 4th quarter to extend the 49ers last drive, bleeding precocious time off the clock, which I think cost us the game. Too many yards after the catch, couldn't get off the field when we needed it the most, lackadaisical tackling, played soft at times, etc.

Given that last year‘s defense was historically tragic, I’m giving this a solid seven. The progress, the building blocks, the hope going forward even if Dan Quinn moves along, put us leaps & bounds ahead of where I imagined we’d be.

8. Defense far exceeded expectations, but they made necessary stops, got a ton of turnovers to keep games close for the offense. The offense gets the full blame second half of the season. Again, with the offenses that Dallas has had in the past with a QB I won’t name, one could imagine how deep this team should have went. I think all of fans have been waiting for a defense to at least give Dallas a chance in the playoffs.

Can’t get over that opening drive and how easy SF scored . I thought Marinelli was up in the booth ball cap on backwards.

THEY GET A 3!!!! WHEN YOU MOMENTS COUNTED WHERE WERE THEY? When we couldn't get pressure on QBs then another team plays the team we played and gets all kinds of sacks, something is wrong

6....Is fair. Thought we could have rushed the QB better with the talent we have. Thought Quinn got too conservative @ times. Never really saw the blitz like I thought we could unleash.

Against the run still needs to improve. We still don't have "that" guy teams need to account for in the middle.

We still need to replace Anthony Brown....other teams go to for first downs.

We were ranked #7 in scoring, #19 in yards and #1 takeaways. Even though we gave up yards, we didn't give up points and we got the ball back for the offense.
That's a solid B(8) and good enough defense to win a SB with.

I have to give them an 8. Any higher and we're in elite territory.

I say that because they are the only reason Dallas won 12 games as opposed to 8 or 6 like the last two years. Our offense is the exact same.

6. Some of you guys are nuts. Good D's don't let the other team drive up and down the field.
