12-5 & 3 seed
Highest scoring team in the league
Vastly improved defense
Vastly improved special teams

And I could counter than we would have accomplished none of that if we didn't get to play in the NFC Least. I could counter we were 6-6 outside the division, and all those fancy stats amounted to nothing more than a paper tiger............which explains what we saw against SF.

The win/loss record was largely due to beating up on nfce and bad teams. We lost to most playoff teams we played.
We were not the highest scoring team in the league. There are recent articles about this.
Defense was vastly improved but the bar was low. And we couldn’t stop the run - a big problem.
Special teams gave us an inconsistent kicker who lost some games.
Oh, and most penalties in the league and folded like a cheap suit in our first playoff game at home.
Paper tigers during the season and one and done.

But collapsed against playoff-caliber teams in the back half of the season. Was terrible with penalties and that went into the playoffs. Highest scoring is misleading but the defense was definitely a plus. Same with the special teams for the most part.

He's getting around to fixing the penalties when he has time.

Because Jerry has tried everything he can and is now completely lost as to why it's not working. Yes, he is that football dumb, he has no clue why we lost.

Jerry likes seeing his coaches play out their contracts. He's not one to write a check to a coach that's not coaching.

No problems bringing back MM especially with Quinn coming back with the Sean Peyton news.

MM either brings this franchise back to a SB, or its Sean Peyton's job next year.

You see I actually think this is the right move. I don't want MM back, but you can't bring in another head coach just for a year. Give MM a chance to prove he can take us to the next level. Again if he can't you already have your backup plan. This is putting pressure on the coach, and I'm all for it. Its a far cry from when JJ used to basically never set high expectations for Jason Garret despite being mediocre.

I do not feel bad for MM, he's made millions of dollars. This is the nature of the business.

The Niners were better on both lines. Philbin needs replaced and Dallas still needs to get stronger on the interior DL.

Going from 6-10 to 12-5 doesn't usually get head coaches fired, no matter how it looks at times. I hope there are some staff changes coming, but we're talking Jerry here.

-------I could counter we were 6-6 outside the division,

Save your breath....I used that one a few days ago....some just see 12-5 and nothing more.....I was warned about this lazy buffoon by Packer faithful before he coached his first game for us.

Exactly............it would be monumentally stupid, even for Jerry, to bring in a new coach on a one year deal.

No, this is the right move. You bring everybody back and give it another shot. If Fat Mike goes one and done again, which is a very high probability, then you can his arse and hire Payton in 23.

Why in the world would you bring back the same staff after leading the league in penalties and losing the playoff game at home to a 10-7 team????......... A SF offense lead by a wr playing rb and a Qb who rarely breaks 200 yards passing. Have the Jones boys seriously convinced themselves the officiating cost them the game while forgetting the team entered the 4th Quarter trailng 23-7?
The difference between the 2 teams wasn't talent. It was football intelligence and grit......... It was coaching. The 49ers were coached up. Dallas was not. I remember too many good Cowboy football teams to recognize the difference between a prepared confident team and one that is not. But, here we go again to rewind the whole mess and see if it plays out differently.

......dam, I need some onion rings.

Because the players seem to like McCarthy. Big Mike is just cleaning up Garrett’s mess. Jerry has proven that he’s very patient. I don’t think you would see a quick firing like we had with Chan Gailey unless the players we’re not sold on him, like Gailey. But he is definitely a lame duck. Win this year or else.

No excuse for a HC and pre-snap penalties.
Now we'll waste another season till Jerry fires MM mid season.
Typical idiocy from a moron who never learns and is incapable of admitting mistakes.

JJ is enjoying the addiction to publicity of any kind........we're out of the playoffs, yet the main team talked about that ain't in it. Never mind examining the wrongs with the team and franchise right now. Changes should have begun 2 weeks ago. Another Publicity Super Bowl banner......in his mind, is just fine.
