Unm ok. What was he to do, what was all bad. Sounds like you just don't like JJ or this team and have no hope for the future. Good luck buddy

Payton was never coming to Dallas, and coaches who go from 6-10 to 12-5 in their second year are rarely fired. There was zero reason to expect either.

The team is full of terrible choking front runners led by a complete moron that never adjust the offense at OC , a DC that chokes when it counts and a meat head HC that is only a yes man proxy for a senile decrepit GM/owner . Yes it’s bleak, Cowboys suck and will keep sucking. The punter and a linebacker are pretty good and a corner that can be exciting now and then and that’s about it.

Didn't say that it did. There was no reason for US to believe that Jones was going to fire McCarthy after a 12-5 season and a playoff game that was still winnable in the fourth quarter. The part about Payton should only have served as confirmation for US that there would not be a change.

Based on past activity by the team, it was reasonable to believe that the Joneses might be willing to push McCarthy aside for Payton, but Payton saying he wants to sit out 2022, took any possibility of that away for US to believe that might be realistic.

Payton was never coming here this season. I think MM has this season though. If he doesn't achieve anything, then, I am sure the Payton rumors can hold some water.

Didnt we play them two weeks earlier, in Dallas, and they kicked our arse?

Not sure why you think it would have been any different in the playoffs. This team was going to be one and done no matter who they played, with the lone exception being the Eagles. We probably would have beat them again, maybe.
