If there was a team dumb enough to take Dak.. and he agreed to go.. then I'd take anything or nothing.. just get him out of here.

Give us a shot at rebuilding this franchise and getting results.

No. If there was a sure thing QB coming out this year, then maybe. But the problem is not Dak, it is his contract. His contract is Jerry's fault, not Dak's The time to trade Dak was last year. They shouldh ave franchised him and traded him for a couple of 1st round picks. Then maybe they could have draft a QB and Parsons too.

But now, there is no QB to replace him. I am not convinced that trading for some failed project on another team is the answer. And Watson has too much baggage to trade away draft picks.

If Jerry had given Dak a fair deal, in the $30 million to $35 million range, they could build their defense and running game around Dak and the Cowboys would be a better team. Dak's contract is going to make that more difficult going forward but I think it is the direction they need to go despite Dak's contract. In the meantime, find a Dak backup who can take over in 2025 if Dak will not sign again for a reasonable price tag.

Forget the cap implications for this hypothetical—would you trade Dak for a first round pick this year if the cap didn’t prohibit it?
No, I’d trade him for a proven starting QB and throw in a 1st round and or players if needed.

If Dak is as bad as this scenario suggests, why would anyone trade a first round pick for him?

These trade scenario threads always seem to come off like this: "(Insert player here) sucks and is overpaid. I'm sure the rest of the NFL is too dumb to notice this and will give us a high return for him."

No, do you really want to be stuck with Jerry trying to find another QB. Don't you remember that Jerry tried trading up for Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook before Dak fell in our laps in the late 4th round? I think we can all pretty much agree that Dak isn't worth $40 million per year. However, I think we can win with him if we fix the OLine and fix the running game. We can't go through another season where our C and LG are being pushed 5 yards into the backfield on every play. Also, we need a dependable LT who isn't constantly missing games due to injury. La'el Collins could play better too. The only OLineman that is truly showing up and playing well every week is Zack Martin.

What makes you think that keeping Dak wouldn’t waste those 3 years? What exactly has Dak shown to make you think that we are suddenly going to become this amazing team?
His rookie season, the first 7 games 2021 / offensive ROY
