I don't understand the fawning now over former cowboys who played solid and ended up in the super bowl. Is this what we are doing now?

Chido- 14 passes defensed and 2 ints. Seems about right for him...slight increase from previous years.

Brown- 17 passes defensed and 3 ints. Also had a TD and a FF.

But PFF will tell us Chido was amazing this year...
Chido was amazing this year, cant go on stats alone for CB play. Brown was an above average CB despite what people want to say. Difference is Brown was a penalty machine (At times) and up and down week to week. Chido is the much better coverage guy, although I will say put Brown with top really good Safetys behind him like Chido now has and his production probably goes up a notch too.

Some times a player just needs a new scenery to do better.

Jaron Kearse for us was one of those players
I’m not even sure we can say he’s doing better. He’s on a better team and much better defense but is his performance or talent better? Or just benefitting from being on a better team?

It is what it is. Salary Cap simply doesn’t allow you to resign all of your starters.

No it sure doesn’t and that’s why solid starters are such valuable pieces to the puzzle. Impossible to have all pros at every position. Some here need a reminder of the importance of solid starters. Not saying you do but some here do.

Very possible it is just a better scheme/supporting cast. That said though its still a really good lesson that just because someone has some struggles doesn't mean we have to ship them out. Chido was crucified around here, but honestly was probably a league average CB with a really bad supporting cast.

I won't argue...i liked Chido here and I know his coverage skills are very good. His problem, like every CB who played here prior to this year, was making plays.

I will take Brown's production this year and the future with Bossman over the 3 year 21 mill contract Chido signed....plus I will take that compensatory pick.

No argument there either. I'd love to have Chidos coverage ability mixed with Diggs ability to find the ball. I just realize that is the top 1% of DBs, and sometimes think that expectations on our CBs are way overboard, especially 2020 and prior when we had maybe not even JAG level talent at multiple positions on defense. Good point about the comp pick too, thats something i hadnt considered.

What are the odds he'll end up going to Disneyland?

Go Cowboys!

Good for Chido. He was the best CB on the Cowboys in 2020. I think there are two reasons why he was not re-signed. First, was money. He was more expensive than Jourdan Lewis. But also, Lewis is believed to be a better slot CB, while Chido is an outside guy.

Chido did help the Bengals win a SB, just like every other guy on that team.

- Keep in mind that former Cowboys CB Chido Awuzie is part of that stellar defense that
shut out usually explosive KC Chiefs offense in the 2nd half.

- In Dan Quinn and Joe Whitt Jr's first year on Defense- how much success would/could Awuzie
have had here if he had remain with Cowboys ?

- Both WRs Tyrek Hill and Nicole hardeman were not factors in 2nd half

- Pat Mahomes and KC offense only had 83 yards total in 2nd half ?
and only 3 points in 2nd half, -the only FG to tie and go overtime

- i believe i heard Mahomes had a Zero rating in 2nd half ,..!!

- With Mahomes standing all day with no rush on hi, before he goes to spinning, churning
into sacks,..

- BTW, the Bengals coaching staff made in-game adjustment to completely halt KC Chiefs.

We decided to let him walk in FA and pigeon-holed ourselves heading into to the draft thinking we’d grab either Horn or Surtain.

Cowboys defense did a very good job against the chiefs. They held them to 19 points!

Our offense was a complete joke though and couldn't do anything like the whole second part of the year.

Happy for Awuzie, always like the guy, but he was more expensive and gets up a comp pick. Honestly even in DQs scheme i'm not sure he has the same success as in Cincinnati. It really helps when you have two excellent cover guys in Von Bell and Jesse Bates helping you over top from the Safety position.

It's the culture. Players leave Dallas and go to teams where they can focus on just playing football instead of being on the country club organization/business that Jerry has created

I saw him play early in the season. He played well then. I haven't seen him since until the playoffs. If you are a DB and your name isn't called multiple times, you are doing OK.
