Love me some Romo. You have to be able to laugh at yourself.Just wish he was 25 and still our QB.If Dak had 1/2 of Romo’s football IQ…….. he might be pretty good.

Seahags had a former bus driver and school crossing guard playing in the secondary and Freaking Parcells as much as I love him refused to challenge them

I agree with the first part of your statement but we did try to pass. Tony & T.O. couldn't get on the same page a couple times & the other guys had the dropsies.

It was very frustrating cause we should have won that game without breaking a sweat due to Seattle's secondary issues.

Why does no one blame Witten for not getting the first down??

I don't think Romo will ever be fully appreciated by this fanbase. This stupid play haunted Tony Romo throughout his whole career and will continue to be the "take" of "football fans" when asked what they think of Romo.

He had literally been the media darling & face of the NFL since becoming the starter that year. All promo's, pre-game\post game shows, etc., featured him.

After the game, the first Sportcenter game recap was neutral (meaning they didn't blame anyone). The second one began to gently ask questions about the Cowboys performance. By the fourth one, it was knives out & they were in full feeding frenzy to blame Tony.

They love tearing them down more than they love building them up. Just a fact.

its funny i just recently watched this game in its entirety on youtube.

cowboys had no business losing that game tbh. but as always we find a way to pull defeat out of the jaws of victory.

It would've been a HOF-worthy self-own if he made the joke and let it lay there.

Instead he immediately clumsily crowbarred the joke in another time. Practically nudging everyone with an elbow, as if to say: "Right, guys? Right? Did you see what I did there? Because of that time when I fumbled when I was the holder on a FG that would've put my team ahead in a playoff game. 'Member? You remember that, guys? Against Seattle. The game in 2006. That's what I'm referencing. Remember that, everyone?"

His boothmate didn't give him a big enough pat on the head to acknowledge it, so he decided to just repeat it. It went from funny to sweaty.

That was a brutal self own, I am surprised he can joke about it all these years later. I mean, that is his playoff legacy that he will always be remembered for.

Dak better hope he can win some playoff games or that QB keeper with no timeouts will be his legacy, the play he will always be remembered for.
Maybe part of it was that the play was not when Romo was actually playing QB.

I do understand there are some dense people out there (not you) that assume a holder on special teams is the same as playing QB, but most of us know it isn't.

Painful either way though

I can appreciate his joke. Sometimes you have to heal pain through laughter, and if that's how he deals with it, fine with me. I will agree he probably should have let the joke go the first time through though, instead of trying to force it back into the conversation, but sometimes people just want to be acknowledged.

Did anybody watch Tony Romo: From the Small Town to the Big Stage : A Football Life on YouTube? It was a good watch! I enjoyed it. You can tell that fumbled kick and the Dez "no catch" really hurt deep down in his soul. Can't blame him. Hurt me as a fan. I can only imagine how much worse it is as the player.

If he would've held that snap his career would've went totally different.....
I absolutely agree. I feel like that moment put this weird monkey on his back during his football playing career that he could just never shake.

That monkey's name was Jason Garrett, but nevertheless, my point still stands. :muttley:

Fumbling a slick ball was so overblown. I never even gave any talk concerning it the time of day.

It was not even worthy of discussing it as some kind of fault of Tony's, and it certainly had nothing to do with his skill as a QB, nor did it have anything to do with his alleged "failure" as one.

Of course one person can ruin someones career.
How can one person‘s ruin someone’s career. Unless that person is vicious. You’re thinking over the top and not in general . No one tried to ruin the career it just happened.

I didn't say they "tried".

But thanks for admitting I was right...it did happen.

Are you really that shallow. OK you were right. Lol. I hope that makes your day. And to be honest with you. I don’t even know what we’re talking about. I don’t remember the initial conversation lol

In fairness to Tones, that ball that was snapped to him did appear like it had been waxed!!!
Again, worth remembering that he was only in there because the regular holder was out (I forget if he was injured or what). Tony had virtually no snaps for this in practice.

But in a lot of ways, it defined his career . . . "right there," yet unable to get over the hump.

How clever of Romo.

His comment right after another playoff loss was also clever:

"If this is the worst thing that will ever happen to me, then I've lived a pretty good life."

Romo had a knack of recovering from a disappointing performance quicker than me.
