Coop & Dlaw cap casualties?

There's more than two cap casualties. What about Tyron Smith, 5.49 million space if released. Anthony Brown 5 million if released. Jarwin 4.25 if released.

Releasing ALL 5 wouldn't hurt this team one bit. Convince me otherwise.
What you need ask yourself is, who is going to replace these 5 starters? We went 12-5 with them. Are you guaranteed to find suitable replacements at a better cost? Doubt it.

I say release em both and start the rebuild.

After 3 years the rebuild should be complete with the arrival of a new QB.

This team is going to be rebuilding until we are all pushing daisy's.... There's nothing to say it's not true. Jerry...Stephen waiting in the wings (Mr. Anti-FA/spend money). At this point I really doubt any of us who were young guys in the 90s will see another championship before we are in our 70s. Wouldn't surprise me at all.

It could get ugly, fast....
Oh yeah, it's going to get ugly really fast. Without Cooper drawing doubles and his route running the other receivers are going to get better defenders on them. Considering it's a good chance that our receivers will be Semi, Turner and Lamb and possibly a late draft pick we will completely suck on offense. I'm indifferent on DLaw. He was out so much this year and we didn't miss him that much and he didn't show up when it counted.

One thing I will say and I'm not trying to troll but just pointing out a pattern. Dez got frustrated with the offense and publicly complained about Dak and then he was released. Cooper publicly complained about not getting enough targets and the offense and he will be cut. I'm angry that we're not dealing with the problem of the offense and we're cutting guys that talk about it. Whether it's Dak or Moore, we've wasted Cooper's talent just like we wasted Pollard by forcing Zeke. Makes me think coaching first.

O well, personally I feel the sooner we purge the bad contracts of this team, Dak, Zeke, Lawrence then the better we'll be. I feel we'll be average at best with these guys under their current contracts .

It kind of makes sense. If you trade or release Cooper, you can pay Gallup. But is it worth it? I'm not sure. Maybe just draft another WR.

I'd also be asking myself if it's worth moving on from DLaw now? Keep him for a 27M cap hit, or release him for a 19M dead cap? Might as well keep him for 2022.
Whatever we do with DLAW is cool as long and we don't kick the can down the road. Me personally I'm fine with keeping him at 27 million and then cutting him next season, or cutting him now and eating the 19 million. One or the other. Pushing his cap hit into future years is the one thing I do not want to do.

Dak was pathetic against the 49ers I can’t defend that. That is why I apologized. I just know that we have Dak for at least 3 more years and there is nothing we can do about it. Same situation with Zeke. We still have the best team in the East and the top 2 seeds in the NFC may not have their quarterbacks. The Cowboys have a chance to go deep in the playoffs.

Zeke will never see his 2023 contract. One more year. Dak is fine IMO. But at some point we have to realize just what he is and build the team accordingly. Similar to the 49ers. Defense and a good run game mixed with pass. Not try to build a team like we have Kurt Warner under center. It's doable. Garoppolo has been to a SB and a championship game in what, 2-3 years? I think Dak is better than him.

Right. That would be the worst thing they could do. There comes a time where you have to consider age and diminishing results. I don't even think they should restructure Martin at this point. If they restructure Zeke I'll fall off my chair.

Makes sense. 38 million saved post June 1st cut…. Who replaces Lawrence? A full season with him and parsons and Gregory would be great, especially with parsons in his second year

Parsons is already our #1 Edge Rusher. That should be his role on pass rush downs. Keep him on the field as long as he can handle, but keep his hand off the ground unless he's pass-rushing from the edge.

Lawrence is paid like an elite Edge Rusher, but he's not elite in the league, or even on our team. Just bad value. Move on.

Gallup situation is interesting, he missed the early part of the season and Wilson had to fill in, he returns and blows out his acl. Really hard to know what teams will be willing to offer.

And coming back from a knee injury.

Maybe he'd even *rather* take a true prove it contract next year, particularly if we let Cooper go and he's assured starter snaps. He should get fat numbers if he comes back in such a situation, and may make more long term by signing his first contract off a big season next year instead of a small and injured season this year.

The cycle continues........rinse, wash and repeat......and then sell "us" the snake oil again. Problem.......same detergent (coaches) being used.
