As a fan who began following the Cowboys in 1999, I'd say it was the years of 2007-2014. By 2015, my interest steadily faded to the point where I stopped watching most games.

For most Zoners here, was it 1992-1995?

Mine was 76-96. Besides late 80s it was expectation of SB or bust. In the middle of 20 seasons of winning records. It was glorious. The last 25 are just disappointment but still cheering!

1971 year they finally broke through. Been declining steadily since 2009 playoff loss to Minnesota when I became aware of the Jones family death grip was likely permanent.

I’m a young buck and I was just a toddler when the cowboys won in the 90s but I became really interested in 2014-16 those were the best years in the past decade. Things were looking so bright with dak and Zeke as rookies if you told me we wouldnt have won a chip by now since 2016 I would’ve laughed in your face.

Always! Peak interest never fades. But, favorite period being born in 73 is early-mid 90’s. 3 SB’s in that period, so of course that’s my fav.

The day we drafted Emmitt Smith. I was surprised the Cowboys landed him. I remember watching the draft over a friend's house (because he had ESPN, and I didn't) and felt we were headed in the right direction.

The only Cowboys game I saw was in Atlanta at the erstwhile, now-demolished Fulton County Stadium, hoping Emmitt would rush for 1,000 yards on the season and the Cowboys would win and make the playoffs. Alas, Babe Laufenberg was the quarterback, and we lost the game. But I knew good times were coming.
The 92 season was the high point for me, though.

Loved the 70s, especially when the Cowboys drafted Tony Dorsett and I became a Cowboy. But ... the 90s were the glory days. We were kings!

Good thread.

My peak years were basically what you listed. 2005ish-2014. I was kind of young for the 90s dynasty, and they were average-to-bad between 96 and 2006. I still watched then, but I wasn't actively following them in the offseason or anything.

I was excited about Romo before the Giants game in '06, and then when that season turned around I felt really validated in my opinions, lol. I think that's when I started posting to message boards... just not this one, yet.

2007 felt like a dream. I'd just watched how good the 14-2 Chargers were, and thought that we were probably just as good or better positioned going into 2007 than they had been. And then we came out like gangbusters and I thought a super bowl berth was a certainty. Especially considering how easily we dispatched everyone in the NFC.

I had probably too much emotional investment from 09-12. In fact, I was in Cabo when we lost to Washington for that 2012 season finale and it legit ruined two days of my trip. That's when I knew I was taking this stuff too seriously. Started stepping back in 2013, but 2014 seemed like we would maybe get that "Romo riding off into the sunset" season.

Since then I haven't been nearly as involved.

1968-1982.

Started watching 1968. They were always talented, always had Landry.

Always felt they had a chance to win it all. After 1982 you could tell the team was slipping. As a sports fan I value consistency above all else. No team wins the championship every year, so as long as my team was "in the hunt" I followed every facet of the team.

Now? Not so much.

Grew up on late 80’s and early 90’s Boys. Didn’t miss a game from prob 1997 to 2010. (Even during the Campo years) I would bet on football in those years, was all about fantasy football, played Madden competitively, etc.. Football was more of a serious hobby when I wasn’t married. As Garrett rebuilt the team and got back some of the offensive toughness especially on the line and running game I was ignited again. But too many disappointing losses. So it’s been down a little after that, but I still watch just about every game every year. Cowboys are part of my life forever. I’ll get down some years, or get sidetracked by life, but I always come back.

I would say the 2014-2018 range was probably my peak period of interest. I wasn't alive to watch the 80s and 90s teams so that stretch was about the best I've seen. The 2014 team was so dominant out of no where. It was spectacular. Follow that up with 2016's completely unexpected performance from Dak and Zeke (Love them or hate them that season was fun) and I was really on the hook. Since then things have been less exciting and more excruciating to watch.

All of that being said, I have probably watched 95% of the games since 2010 and will continue to watch most of the games.
