I wouldn’t release Brown but you can argue Greg and Jarwin are jags themselves….

No argument there, but we have to replace them with someone, unless we're replacing them with JAG's we'll have to spend on a decent K and especially TE, unless we think McKeon is the answer. The position that we can just release players doesnt factor in that we need to replace them.

Zuerlein is a JAG though and so is Brown for that matter so it’s little change either way. You can easily replace and upgrade both for cheaper.

You aren’t finding DLaw for 8m which is a problem. You can find a Cooper for 16m so he is probably gone and because you can find a Cooper for under 16m I don’t think you get much in a trade especially with owner being publicly down on him.

Im looking at it from the perspective of the CAP issue not from replacing them. The point that we'll be $5m over the CAP if we release Zuerlein and Brown doesnt take into account that we'll have to spend that money on their replacements.

But releasing Zuerlein, Jarwin and Brown results in us having JAGS playing at TE,K and hoping that Joseph is a full time starter at CB2 and JAGs rounding out the Secondary.....let alone scraping the barrel for rest of the roster.

In respect of DLaw i'm suggesting a total reworking of the contract, not restructuring the existing contract....he's not getting $27m in 2022. Looking at his contract, if money is his biggest motivation then he's probably expecting to be cut.
DLaw isn’t getting paid $27 million this year - it’s $19, which is a lot but by cutting him only only means $8 million in savings. I disagree with your notion that we can’t replace Zuerlein, Jarwin and Brown. The only one that had a descent year was Brown, which makes him more likely to be traded then cut.

No, DLaw's paid $27 against the CAP in 2022.

We can replace the other 3, however, it'll cost much more that the $5m you've worked out we'd have left over the CAP.

I honestly think a jag may be a upgrade from Greg…and Jarwin offers nothing for whatever reason. I can get a rookie to come in and give the production he gave.

I really don’t understand the thought of cutting Lawrence, it’s only a cap savings of $8 million while having $19 in dead money. When healthy he still is a great DE, cut him next year when the savings in greater.

The media is trolling us......seeing if we are dumb enough to take the bait. Chances are Jerry and Stephen read the message boards for advice....and if you get enough people saying......yup.....that D-law guy....he sucks....cut him!!!! Jerry just might fall for it. It's happened in the past.

Yea, possible to draft a kicker mid rounds, but no chance of draft and play a TE unless we go 1st round.

They would be replaced by rookies that wouldn’t ad much to the cap.

I agree with the logic with the learning curve with TE but I wouldn’t give Schultz anywhere near $10 million a year.

It never ceases to amaze me how caught up some of you get on the forum playing GM.. I get it, you have that right, freedom of speech and thought, but at the end of the day, the team always makes decent moves when not giving out ridiculous contracts and finds ways to field an even better team most years.

I have found that so much moving and shaking goes on that it's tough to imagine all the moves that are going to be made to improve the roster, and for those of you whom think it can't be improved maybe should hold onto your seats because most likely it will even with the cap issues ..

Wouldn’t want to release him either but the hope is Joseph and Wright can replace him with $5 million in savings.

That's a brave call (not saying dont agree with it) with no experience in the secondary especially as we'll also be looking for a new FS.

I’m not. I’m all for paying players what they’re worth. D law is worth 11 million. Dak is worth24. Cooper is worth 15-20
A fan opinion of what a player is worth means nothing
The market determines what a player is worth and the only option to not paying the market value if not signing players to second contracts

I’ll settle for any compensation to get a contract like that off the books.
Ehh yeah I can't disagree with that. Because just before this season we were talking about Cooper as one of the best receivers in the league. So if I felt that way then and feel that way now why would I get rid of him for just salary cap relief? Just so what? We can overpay for Randy Gregory or LVE and continue the cycle?
