I sill think Erik Williams did enough to warrant a HOF induction just for his sheer dominance in the early 90s. It's not like he was terrible after the accident either, he was still an all-pro.

Why don't you find a few clips of White getting beat-up like a boxer going up against ERIC WILLIAMS????????? It was so bad White took himself out of the game................................

LOL, he did I forgot that. Love the Minister of Defense but I had never seen that before. Even William Fuller (ex heels) for the egirls stayed in the game when the Big E landed the Bolo Punch on top of his helmet and took his wiping that day. Next day at work me and another boys fan died laughing at the Big E working over Fuller.

There’s a Larry Allen video I’ve been searching for and I haven’t been able to locate it. It was a MNF in 1999 against the Vikings and Emmitt had over 140 yards in the first half. If memory serves me correctly, Smith broke a Walter Payton record. Unfortunately, Emmitt got hurt and left the game in the second quarter. On one play, Larry Allen pushed 5 guys like he was pushing a sliding door open, and it gave Emmitt the largest hole I’ve ever seen to run through.

Does anyone recall that play?
I do! It was a pulling play where the linemen had to pull. Chan Gailey installed that and it worked great that game. If Emmitt didnt get hurt, we win the game and have a better year. Allen was a beast.

Erik Williams was just as good as Allen but the car wreck basically ended his career and his dominance. Erik would just beat u down all game, maul you. MAYBE the best oline combo in history for about 4 years straight.

Agree, he had that mean streak I loved.

Wrong.

There are a several DE's that are mentioned in the same breath as White.

Maybe only one or two with LA.

Problem is a DE is going to have a lot of spalsh plays; lots of plays that get attention. A guard will not. That is why you have this mistaken idea.
The two best to ever play their position.

Embarrassing for Big Larry, but as everyone is saying at least it's against Reggie White and Big E had his number.

If I had the NFL archives, I bet it wouldn't take long to post 100 of Allen's pancake or greatest moves. A lot more clips of players being embarrassed by Big Larry, than him by them.

Yeah, I don't know about that. The amount of defensiveness here in calling up Williams for the defense of Allen had me going back into the stat book. Now it's not perfect without looking at all the game tape but in 10 games they faced each other where each was listed as a started in their respective positions, White had 6 sacks, or the equivalent of roughly 9.5 sacks over a 16 game season.

Since people are saying Williams was at his best before the accident, they faced each other 5 times with the same parameters in '92 and '93 and White notched 3 sacks, or roughly the same 9.5 sacks over a 16 game season. In 1992 when Williams won that NFC Offensive Player of the Week Award in a game against White, Reggie still had 3 sacks in the 2 other games they played that year. In 1993 Williams shut White out for the 2 games they played then.

I wonder if this legend has something to do with John Madden highlighting Williams in that one game (which probably helped with that award) and people extrapolating it out to forever.

Not saying we don't get rose colored glasses as fans as the years goes by, but a whole season of shutting out White is pretty good in my book when it's the greatest DE who ever played.

Yes, would be like in the NBA saying during the course of the whole year and PO, we held the GOAT MJ to 25 points a game instead of his 38 average, we will take it.

At this point, Larry Allen is an under-coached rookie only a dozen games removed from itty-bitty Sonoma State.

It's not that remarkable that a good vet was able to use good technique to get him off-balance.

Surely there are better highlights from Reggie's career this guy could've shown instead. Like a play where he actually sacked the QB? (He played 21 games against Dallas and sacked our QBs 17.5 times in his career -- plenty to choose from if you want to show a Reggie highlight while trolling Dallas.)

Show the clips of Big E whipping White like a red headed step child. No doubt, Reggie White was one of the best ever, but LA was a rookie that year in that clip….
