I was wondering how so many players get hurt when it’s so rare that I actually see a return. Then I checked out the stats.

Dallas was second in the NFL for highest percentage of touchbacks, barely behind Minnesota, 80.85 to 80.18%. However, there were 13 teams this year below 50% of their kicks being touchbacks, 3 below 40%!
4 playoff teams were below 50%; another 4 below 60%.

But what do you do? If you drop the kickoffs, does that mean no way to make a comeback win with an on-sides kick?

There will be a time not to far away where there won't be punters. They will just place the ball on the opposite side of the field where depends on where it was on the other side of the field.

They would go to the 4th and 15 from your own 25 rule that they were trying out at the Pro Bowl which oddly enough has a higher chance of success than an onside kick (unless you are Atlanta).

I confess didn't watch it and haven't for a long time.

It’s a waste of time it’s nothing more than a glorified game of touch these days. A Powderpuff game would be more entertaining.

I’m a football junkie but only watched the first half. We’re going to be down to no football after Sunday until August.

Makes sense. Like calling pan fried vegan breakfast food an omelet. Or stainless steel eating utensils 'silverware.'

Exactly, those phrases don't really make much sense when you boil it down. I mean, cutlery is sufficient for utensils, and they should just call it stainless steel cutlery, but the silver bit makes sound like the user actually has silver in the cutlery. Mind you, I was a kicker, so maybe I'm a bit jaded from that angle with it, but it's awfully strange that this sport is called football. Amazing the way language can be used to mean something completely different to what one would thing the word would mean.

They just about eliminated kick returns. What can they do for punts. Take the average punt and place the ball there. No kickoffs just get it at the 25.. No more fumbles or fakes.. No one would watch that part of the game..

How long before we see the first 100 points scored by one team in a “NFL” game?

It's all about gambling and FF money now. Wonder when the tipping point is before more gamblers and FF interest overtakes the football fan? I know some are both but I wouldn't care if gambling or FF went away I would still be watching.

Aren't salaries tied into or at least a small part of them due to the risk of injury? So then will salaries go down with these changes? I know this sounds ridiculous but just focusing on special teams for a second, if they are eliminated to some degree then the entire roster will be overhauled. Meaning the next step might be to reduce the size of the gameday roster? This means less game day checks on down the line. Less payroll, smaller caps I mean where does it end?
