Is it Cooper's Fault?

This team has basically two #1 wrs, you may not think so, but they do. You pay a guy 20 million a season you want him to get the ball, you have a guy you drafted in the first round he needs his receptions as well.

To solve this, what we really need is 1 #1 WR and some role players at receiver that are affected and can do what a Gallup does. These top guys are divas, I think we have to think when we criticize Coop, he didn't assemble this team.

Does he need to play better yes, does he need targets yes, i just think we have two guys that want the ball when it should be one and the other be a supporter, please give your thoughts..

Amari is lazy, not a popular opinion I know but I see it with my own eyes, dude takes plays off and is just apathetic. There is something off with him. He has immense talent with a misfiring engine.

I agree.

He doesn't have the energy necessary to dominate like he thinks he can. His motor is definitely in question.

Still a good player, but I think the Raiders figured this out before trading him.

That's quite possible. But as an observer it's hard for me to tell what the problem is. I just default to blaming the system/QB for lack of targets to a WR. Because that's usually what it is. But it may not be in this case.

Think back to when we had Drew Bledsoe. Fans were calling Owens the highest paid decoy in the league. Enter Romo. All that changed almost immediately.

Different situation.

Owens was a hyper-productive head case with too much juice.

Cooper is a content upper tier WR with zero desire to be the best.

Either way, the fact remains, Owens wasn't getting the ball. People were talking about it and they weren't blaming Bledsoe. It's hard for me to see what Cooper is doing out there, so I don't know for sure. I also don't think Cooper is Owens.

CD is not a #1 WR like Amari. When he can dictate double coverage or roll coverage and win in those situation then you can start qualifying him as #1.

He’s never had that opportunity. We have too many weapons for defenses to account for. It’d be interesting to see CD true potential if AC leaves. I think he’ll blow up and win the triple crown! ;)

I’ve seen Cee Dee Lamb go over the middle and a slender not big tough receiver comes up with the big catch takes the big hit gets up goes back to the huddle. Now Coop I like him quite a bit catches some amazing TD’s beautiful fade routes to the corner but your not sending him over the middle.

To be honest losing 19 to cap casualty plans seems an odd way to “ improve “ an offense that struggles against tougher defenses.

I have seen many many receivers, including #1's, take plays off when they know they are double covered, not prime target, and/or not getting the ball thrown to them for whatever reason. Replays show Cooper is open in majority of passing plays, but when he only gets only a few passes thrown his way, it gets frustrating. I wish he would complain more because Dak will force things to him. It will be good for the team and Cooper.

If we do cut Coop, let’s please wait 2 seasons before the “I told you so…” threads. LOL

Dude has already proven he can have a one year revival when he has a chip on his shoulder.

Agree, the dude could get open every play if he wanted to. He does once or twice then when the ball doesn't come his way he gets lazy and a IDC attitude.

I'm still curious how a WR as good as Cee Dee Lamb, who had single coverage all game--only got a couple of targets in the playoffs.
Viable question. Here’s another. Do we have “too many” options? Think about it. Cooper, Lamb, Gallup, Wilson, Shultz, Pollard, Zeke, etc. There are a couple of divas in that group, and it least one or two of them take plays off when it’s not about them. Some players need so many targets to get hot or find a groove. Not enough snaps to spread around?

Cooper is still a quality WR, but it looks to me like he lost a step. Not close to elite last year, and he'll be 28. About when a lot of WRs start running out of gas. Better a year early than a year late, and arguably last year was already the year too late. I've been a fan of Cooper, but I say it's time to move on.
