Is Dak Prescott And Kirk Cousins In The Same Class?

I would say they are comparable....in the 2nd tier of QBs.. Nothing special or game changing. Let's just say you could do worse, but should be looking for better.

Right, we don’t know how good Mac Jones will eventually be. However, Parsons barring injury could end up being one of the all-time great defensive players. Even the biggest Dak hater would have a tough time giving up Parsons for Jones even if it meant saving a ton of money not having to pay Dak.
Good point. I'm not high on Dak but I would take Dak and Parsons over Jones. We don't know what Jones will develop into but Parsons could be the next Ray Lewis. We know what Dak is and I truly believe Dak will be a backup QB after his current contract is up. But Parsons will be hitting his stride when Dak's contract is up. So at this moment it's better for the team to have Dak and Micah over Mac Jones.

As far as the original question is Dak like Kirk Cousins. I say yes. Both are average to maybe above average starters that are at their ceiling.

I will also add if we wouldn't have signed Dak we would have been 6-11 in 2020 but our team's future would look brighter with more cap space and a better draft pick in April.

I actually didn’t know what to make of your post. I certainly didn’t see a joke there. lol

I was poking fun at the draft gurus and cap gurus who seem to have this notion that if we're not having a great season that we should tank.

McNabb. Used to be a tough runner, but not as much after a few years. Above average long ball, and so so on reading the field. Protected the ball decent, but just couldn't get over the holes of the team. I like Dak as a human better though.

not a bad comparison at all. They both like to swing their hips the same way too…..uncanny

Had we let Dak walk after the 2020 season, instead of Parsons at #12 we might have selected Mac Jones. After what we saw from those two players this season how many would have been okay with Jones over Parsons?

Of course I’m not taking Jones over Parsons but a lot depends on what you are trying to do
Are you looking for “relevance” and “splash” or win a SB because without a good QB you have no shot at a SB
IMO Jones is more likely to win a SB than Dak
If you give me a choice between Dak and Jones I’m taking Jones
After 6 years Dak is who he is, Jones will get better

It’s hard for me to say they made the right decision when all they did was get inferior quarterbacks to Cousins….

Cousins is an inferior quarterback to most that are being paid market value. I look at it differently. I'd rather go 2-14 than pay a QB market value and never be a contender. You put yourself at a disadvantage by overpaying for an inferior QB when you have to go up against superior QBs. Every team works with roughly the same money. With Cousins, the team around him has to be that much better.

They are both from that group, that includes Stafford, that need help to get to the Big Dance.

But can the same not be said for Marino and how about Josh Allen? He is the most active QB in the league and can't get to the Big Dance yet. Lamar Jackson, Kyler Murray and Matt Ryan?

Didn't the Mannings, Elway, Kelly and Mahomes need help getting there?

How about Starr, Bradshaw, Montana, Aikman, Young and Brady?

There are QB's with unusual talent, either passing or running the ball, that catch our attention and we label them elite and quite a few make the HOF but none without help.

Rodgers is the best passer I have ever seen play this game and he has but one ring. Brees was an uncanny passer, same thing.

Cousins and Prescott are in that 2nd group of QB's with good talent and they both need help to get there and may never reach it. If Dak Prescott were not the QB of the Dallas Cowboys, he wouldn't even be in many discussions and it was the same with Romo. No hate, no love, just fact.

That's correct, however, in hindsight the best option would of been to sign Micah, release/trade Dak and spend the CAP saving on a QB and/or improve the holes in the roster.

That group does not include Stafford…imo.
Surround him the last 4 years with either of the Cowboys or Vikings offenses and I think he is better than both of them.

But all in theory

I think they’re fair comparisons even though both have their own unique strengths and opportunities. As for Dak’s better winning pct, in my opinion the Boys have surrounded him with more talent. Both Dak and Cousins responsible for winning and losing games. Good enough to not be backups, sometimes going to make you believe it’s the year, but not going to take the team on their shoulders to the Super Bowl,

I think Stafford is marginally better but he still makes those "what the hell was that" throws.

Stafford actually carried the Lions more than Cousins and Prescott have their teams. He did have Calvin Johnson but he threw to him in double and triple coverage all the time and that takes accuracy. Linehan was the worst thing to happen to Stafford.
