We need a Defense and a DC that can apply pressure when needed. Or apply pressure all night with just the front 4.. They had pressure in the middle the whole game. When you don’t have to try and the middle is just out of the question all game then it’s a leg up. When you try for more pressure it easy.. There Offense was ok. They scored 23.. Throw short passes and take what they give you., Neither qb threw for even 300 yards. Barely 100 yards rushing between the 2 teams. This was a defensive game. Heck the rams threw 2 picks and still won..

I believe this is the last piece of the puzzle for our defense to take the next step. Need that interior DT who can disrupt pocket. I actually liked how Quinn used DLaw inside in the nickel, he was much better then the likes of Gallimore, Osa applying interior pressure. We have no idea if he will return or if they will address this area of need.

Totally agree but we have needed that for years now. We all complained when marinelli was here and he straight out said he wanted lighter players that can move. Was bs. We all knew it. Now is the time for a 330 pound men in the middle.,

This is an intelligent thread, but it is kind of a kick in the gut to realize everything that led to those teams' success is everything wrong with our team.

It's up to Quinn to communicate that he needs such a player for this defense to become elite.

It seems every year after the super bowl, 31 other teams' fans discuss using the winning team as a formula for improving their own team. No doubt the Rams were the better team yesterday but the winning formula is not new. Be dominant up front on defense and it can determine the outcome of the game. If you have a great CB too, even better.

The Rams assembled some good players through trades, free agency and the draft. They gave away the farm to get their QB. Yet it took a few penalties on their last drive to actually win the game. So how good are the Rams?

Good enough, I guess, but they were built to win this year. Now their HC, star DT and a few others are talking about retirement.

The fact is the Rams hit on a few players in the draft and in free agency. Getting guys like Miller and OBJ was just smart. I think they got away with the trade for Stafford who was not exactly spectacular in the SB. The game was a mismatch. The Rams front 4 against the Bengal pretty mediocre OL. Still, the Bengals could easily have won that game.

I think the Cowboys can have a defense as good as the Rams. They have most of the players. They just lacks a dominant DT. If they get a DT who can disrupt the pocket with Lawrence and Gregory outside, they might be better than the Rams defense.

Bro. I think MAYBE part of the reason he stayed is because he is going to get a few players he needs to make this Defense much better. Run stop Defense with pressure. Boom..

"We" didn't learn anything being it wasn't watched at this end. Could care less about other franchises.

- This team is set to return both OC and OL coach, so nuthin is gonna change in design, scheme and philosophy.
Zone blocking, and right up the middle or delay handoffs out of shotgun run plays.

- Penalties – I just don’t think the players are gonna respond to this lame duck HC in obviously looking like a lame duck season.

- Rumors persist that the Jones are gonna insist McCarthy help out Kellen in the offense… really ? like now you wanna help Kellen – like what took this so freakin’ long ?

- Bottom line, if a OC who has control of the offense has to be helped out ? what does that tell you about your play caller ?

- There’s a lack of physical element missing from both sides of the ball, imo. we cannot move people off the ball in run game, and we get out-physical vs run on defense.

- Teams like Rams/Cincy acquire established vet players in FA to fix run defense – ala Robinson, Reader, etc, while we go Money ball dollar store budget to try to gain that.
