We didn't have a good secondary and our linebackers were pretty average. So average that I can only remember Bradie James.

Watching Manning and his 3 step drops shred us game after game drove me nuts. Bradie James was just awful. Alan Ball.

With the Rams cap issues and no top round draft picks for the foreseeable future due to their “all in now” approach to this season.

He’s on the last year of his mega deal. Played it out. Don’t be surprised if we’re on the Von Miller agenda in the off-season and don’t be surprised if he’s not all in with us if the Rams can’t do him a new deal to finish his career.

We tried to get him but the Rams gave up a 2nd round pick for half a season of play.

Demarcus Ware has already been here working with Parsons. Miller, born in Dallas Texas and played college football in Texas.

7 sacks in last 7 games including the playoffs.

Randy Gregory 6 sacks in 12 games. Demarcus Lawrence 3 sacks in 9 games.

Yes Von Miller will be 33 in 2022 but DLaw and Gregory will be 30 and don’t impact as well as Von Miller does and he did it on $17 million average and is producing a HOF career. 8 probowls in 10 seasons. 1 he got hurt but has played 15+ games a season otherwise and other than this year always makes the pro bowl when doing so.

We know our 2 guys recent playing history.

Other than Aaron Donald, who has been a better, more impactful defensive player than Von Miller the last decade?

Ware didn't help himself when he and the rest of the defense were coasting it in the Packers game that eventually led to Phillips being fired. Stuff like that sours you on a player.
First two months of the 2010 season:
The team started 1-6.
Dallas was 0-4 at home (Cowboys Stadium at that time).
After winning their 1st game (on the road) the last Sunday in September, the Cowboys had a bye for week 4.
They returned to action ... only to go "oh for October"... 0-4...with three of the defeats at home.

Phillips was already in the coffin; the debacle at Lambeau was the final nail.

I loved Ware but he was coming off injuries and we would have been silly to sign him for the 3 yr 30 mill deal he got with the Broncos. He was a great player but would not have come close to the sacks here that he got in Denver being opposite Von Miller. In those 3 years Von put up 38.5 sacks. Ware got 20. I bet that figure would have been less than 15 if he had stayed in Dallas and everybody would have been complaining about the stupid Ware contract like we see every day here!

DeMarcus Ware was released by the Dallas Cowboys before the start of NFL free agency, saving the squad over $7 million and giving another team the chance to pick up the legendary pass rusher. Cowboys Release DeMarcus Ware Ware, 31, stood to make $16 million with the Cowboys for the 2014 season and had a base salary of $12.25 million.
DeMarcus Ware Released From Cowboys, Possibly Headed To Broncos - uInterview

in 2014 that was a major contract Dallas had with him. You are right at the time he was coming off a poor season and injury issues and at the age of 31. It gets a bit confusing around here, Jerry will catch hell for hanging on to a player at one point then is raked over the coals for releasing an older player in the case of Ware.

To this day it was always stupid to get rid of ware

the trick was never about getting rid of ware. It was about adding more talent around ware

Ware took a significant pay cut to be the #2 at Denver.

Our contract was paying him like an elite #1, coming off a couple of seriously declining seasons. It made sense to move on from that contract.

Jesus man..while your complaining about others defending "A player" you just put Romo in the same catagory as Ware....does this not scream pot meet kettle to you?

To be fair last year I could of said Matt Stafford is one of the best in the game and you would of laughed at me because he's never won a playoff game. Romo was the Stafford of his era. Matt just got lucky and went to a winning program.

Please don't get my hopes up.

Stevie Jones is still a penny pinching tightwad last I checked.

If he was actually pinching pennies we would not be 21 mill over the cap. I mentioned Miller because I know he has a desire and has said so before of playing in Dallas. Could a deal be worked out that would allow him to finish his career in Dallas? Have to wait and see, given our current situation with the cap I don't think the odds are great for that to happen.

Stevie penny pinched himself into many corners, having to actually overpay because he waited so long or jumped the gun too early.

Stevie is incompetent **.

Absolute debacle that the Cowboys couldn't win at least one Super Bowl with DWare.

Those are fake glasses. Real prescription glasses don't reflect light like that because they're convex not flat.

Since we are over the salary cap, I'd say him pinching pennies is not true.

D-Ware is a class act. I'm just happy that he got to win a Super Bowl.

I agree but I still hold him responsible for two things.
  1. not developing his game completely while he was here. he didn't show all the pass rush moves consistently til he went to the Broncos.
  2. predominately trying to go around the blocker to the deep pocket. It was so frustrating watching both him & the LDE going deep every while the QB's casually stepped up & launched completions.

nicely said. every front office has to make decisions. they all look smart on some & dumb on some. it's not unique to Jerry.

That would be the coaches not "coaching up" to his potential. Same player different organization.

Him getting sacks in Denver compared to Dallas dosent exactly tell the story. In Denver he lined up opposite of Von Miller. In Dllas it was who?

I can't remember very well, but what did the front office do to help DWare along again? Not sure, but DWare probably helped sell lots of tickets and #94 jerseys for Jerry. I have one.

Lots to blame coaches for but some things are player responsibility. You are quickly a veteran in this league & you realize what needs to be done on the field. He & his teammate should be communicating\coordinating their upfield moves. More importantly, the individual is responsible for putting in the work to be great. I never once saw the full pass rush arsenal from him til Denver. Maybe he realized his career was winding down. Maybe being on a team with a talented defensive front made him realize he had to expand his game so he wouldn't get embarrassed. Either way, he could have been using those moves during his career here.
