.....one thing for sure when dealing with dealerships. Always state I want an ESTIMATE, on possible fixes to car. In saying that and depending what results come back.

There's always mom n pop shops, who would luve yer biz. ;)..

Matter of fact my service engine soon light came on last month. I will probably go to Nissan dealership, hoping for descent price on the fixing.

I got estimates. But with each problem I also got the story about how serious the problem is. That's why they go for the brakes all the time. It's a safety issue, they say. The parts are too rusty to put back one they remove them. blah, blah, blah. I have heard it all. For brakes and oil changes U take the car to small businesses. I used to do all this stuff myself but now I can't be bothered. It is awful getting old. It's not physical, it the mental thing.

I just think there are very few mechanics that can be trusted. All the chain shops are just as bad as the dealers. Local shops are hit or miss too. I want a car that doesn't need repair work at all. Saves me the problem.

I wrote Jeep customer relations and gave them a detailed view of everything I went through with this dealer. I reminded them that this dealer is a reflection of Chrysler Jeep and if they let this dealer rip people off if it on them. I will see if they respond. I don't expect anything, or want anything really. Maybe an acknowledgement that this dealer sucks.

My local Subaru dealership, and Subaru of America, have been very good to me. I had a major out of warranty issue on my car and Subaru made it right for me.

..lol.. .I hear ya, bout getting old thing. Or sometimes you just dont care enough to take care of it. Which is also part of getting up there.

With so many things going on in a day, last thing I want to do is fiddle with the car. But glad you mentioned the possibilities of dealerships ideals. (making their money) I'll be on high alert.

I've yet to take car in. It has 2 lights on right now. Service engine soon and air-bag. I'm coming around to it. Hopefully this weekend or next.

Good luck! Not all dealers are that bad. My daughter's Honda dealership seems pretty reliable. It would not surprise me if Honda polices their dealers to make sure they do not rip off their customers.
