What if Dak's second half is what he his going forward? What if Sean Payton doesn't really want to coach the Cowboys?

Answer A: Then we won't win the SB as long as Dak is here.

Answer B: Then he won't join the Cowboys.

I’m not sure why fans think coaches would want to come here unless their phone isn’t ringing.

Since Jimmy left when have we pursued a hot commodity being pursued by other prominent franchises ?
we have not. there is a rumor of Jerry infatuation with Payton and Payton not necessarily being infatuated with Dallas.

My speculation was if the next two years are a disaster, like no playoffs or another one and done. then we probably move on from Dak. at that point in a couple of years or maybe as early as next year, Payton may come to play. and the one way he would come here is if Jerry throws money at him. to your point, we haven't pursued or paid high end coaches except for Parcells. outside of him its been second rate coaches, fired coaches. or coaches in training. why Payton? because Jerry needs to make a spalsh and Payton would certainly be a splash. and perhaps if we fail misreably next year, we know we can't get rid of Dak and maybe Jerry would chase Payton to give Dak and Payton one year so perhaps the QB whisperer as he is known can do some magic with him. if not, then its probably see ya Dak after 2023 and chase the next QB.

Given his contract status he's the QB for at least the next two years. Any questions anyone may still have about him, in particular the guys who actually make personnel decisions, should be completely answered in time to decide what happens next.

Personally, I think he is what he is - good, not great. He's shown flashes but has lacked the consistency needed. Even the best QBs have an occasional stinker, but you can't look "meh" over a several game stretch. That's not greatness.

Given the rest of the team being built by the Jones boys, including the coaches, they need to fall into greatness at QB to have a chance. They haven't since Aikman.

This front office is so stupid they don’t realize the single best move to make Dak better is to give him a new OC, an OC who’s background and experience aren’t limited to running a Garrett based scheme. It’s also the easiest and most cost effective move. Instead they overpay running backs and wide receivers to help Dak and it doesn’t move the needle.

I think Payton saw enough of Jerry to know he wouldn't be allowed a fair opportunity to coach the Cowboys without his interference.
This^^^^

Why would a quality HC like Sean Payton want to come here? He has to know he would not have the level of control he has become accustomed to in NO. Becoming the HC of the Dallas Cowboys means you will play second fiddle at best. If I was a HC looking to add another SB ring to my hand, I can’t think of a single reason why coming to Dallas- as it’s currently run.

I'm not sure if "no one" is asking, but it's an interesting chat about Cee Dee, Dak's future, Sean Payton, and others.

What if? Dak is what he showed over the course of the season. He never changed. He is what he is. His talent never changed.

A HC will chose Dallas if he wants to earn money. Not if he wants to win something meaningful. So Payton may chose Dallas if he thinks there is nothing more left to win in the NFL for him.

I love how some folks respond as though I made the video, even creating its title.

It's late February. Just something to watch and discuss. It has nothing to do with me.

I agree. Payton knows this is a no win situation. Said many times: Coaching here is like trying to swim with a cinder block chained to each ankle.

1) The production of CeeDee Lamb has been a disappointment. How much of that is on him is highly debatable. I put it on the QB more than him but I do think he owns some of it too.

2) Prescott is what he is. He lacks talent. He'll never be the reason why you win. He needs to be carried. I'm tired of even talking about this.

3) Not cutting Anthony Brown would show more of a lack of belief in that circus freak Nahshon Wright. You don't typically want to pay a 4th corner that much but you can when your top 2 corners are on rookie contracts.

4) Sean Payton would love to coach the Cowboys but I don't care. His resume shows he isn't an upgrade over Mike McCarthy. Both are quality coaches but unless the owner changes they are doomed to fail.
One of your better write ups.
Even gave you a like lol
Ceedees dropsies are no one but his to blame.

Lol, we are at a real competitive disadvantage with this gm and nepotism setup.

I know you’re not a fan of Dak and I get it. Having said that it’s weird how he can look like Brady against the Divisional opponents and lesser teams, but not so good when we play tougher opponents. Plenty of tier two QB’s can’t do that at all. Which leads me to believe our offense just isn’t good enough. Everything has to be perfectly executed for it to work. Playing a RB that is hurt and slow doesn’t help either. Dropped balls when the passes are there is another. It’s the ultimate team game and even though he’s paid more than anyone, he needs help.
Outstanding!!!

Sean Payton really ? I thought MM was still coaching in 2022 ? Or is this year already written off ? This team with another draft maybe a few decent FA’ pick ups in the off-season can’t improve on 12-5 and go where no man in Cowboy land has gone this century namely the NFC title game …?

I’m optimistic not looking down the road to the Sean Payton past and a guy who abandoned New Orleans when he saw what a mess he had at QB .

1. Ego
2. To be the guy who pulled it off.
3. The atmosphere.

Lots of successful people believe in their heart of hearts, that they can do what other haven't, or can't. Generally speaking, it's one of the reasons they are successful.

All BS aside, how would a coach who came in here & pulled it off be treated/remembered..? Well, the two who have, are in the HOF. For someone like Payton who already has a ring, he'd guarantee his spot in the HOF if he came to coach the Cowboys & won a Super Bowl. Will he get in now if he never coaches again..?

I think plenty of guys would look at it as a challenge. An opportunity to step on a big stage. Perhaps the biggest stage in all of pro sports coaching. Lots of cash, even more notoriety/fame, the chance to become immortal to the most popular/talked about sports franchise there is.

Yep. This pattern of offensive problems goes back to 2019. When Moore took over. That spans two coaches.

Who was the last coach who succeeded in the “Jerry dominant era”? Barry? With Jimmy’s team? Unfortunately this franchise has become a graveyard for HC’s careers.

I understand what you’ve said here, but the list of excellent coaches who have enough fortitude to put up with this is probably very short. Besides, Jerry doesn’t like having a HC that could detour any attention away from himself as the face of the franchise.

1.Lamb is sort of a bust, not a total bust, but he wasnt worth a # 1 pick.
He has played like a avg wr, and some lower round picks have probably played better and with more intensity than he has.
I think cowboys and fans anointed him with barrels of oil as soon as he arrived, and he fell into the culture trap here.

2. your tired of talking about this so I wont respond to this. :p
3. no comment
4.Payton may or may not want to come to dallas. I dont see him letting moore call plays and run the offense.
he is used to having a lot of control with his team and players, coaches, and probably the draft, so I would be shocked if he came here and gave
any of that up.
fans are saying get payton, but that wont happen unless jerry is willing to give up a lot of his control, so do you guys see jerry doing that??
he might but I doubt it.

at the end they say how could MM not know what the situation in dallas would be like.
We all know so how could he not know????

They also said that in 2025 there will be 25 million in dead money due to dak contract lol.

they also talked about drafting a qb, but if they finish with winning record, or 8-9, they wont be able to get a top qb.
They would have to settle for one that drops.
