This is bad, IMO.

Parson is talkin up Quinn..cool.

Rich asks "What does Mike McCarthy say to you. What does the HC say to you".

Parsons: "Me and coach Mike don't really talk"

Ooof

Not uncommon with HCs that focus on one side of the ball. Let the DC and his players have a relationship on the field and let them go to battle for him. Address off the field issues......may not be ideal for most, but not uncommon.

I don't see why the HC has to be "buddy buddy" with nay specific player.

Landry and Jerry didn't coach that way. The HC has to make everyone believe that no one is "special" to him. He has to sell it. Can't sell it if you're rubbing elbows with the players.

I have no problem with MM in this.

Quinn will be the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys
Quinn won't be the Head Coach imo. If what McCarthy said is true (which is always a stretch) that Quinn was willing to leave Dallas because he didn't like the narratives of him replacing McCarthy then if McCarthy is fired I highly doubt he takes this job. This is another thing that Jerry has ****ed up by flapping his lips so loosely.

Don't really see the problem here. Quinn deals with Parsons directly as the DC. McCarthy probably at most says, "Good job, Micah," and those types of comments. Are fans on here expecting them to have heart-to-hearts on a daily basis. Probably the last time they had a real conversation was during the draft.

Exactly........nothing unusual, players communicate mostly with their position coaches and coordinators.

+1 ....seems this kinda flew over the head of some fans/posters. The bottom line, Quinn was saying he didn't appreciate how Jerry was handling it. I agree with you 100%, IF/when Jerry fires MM, I'm not sure Quinn would trust Jerry enough to take the job.

Hmmm ... I missed that. If true, I give Quinn credit for his position on it.

McCarthy is an offensive coach. Defense is not part of his background.
  • Moore and the offense need more guidance than Quinn and his very experienced staff.
  • I’m sure McCarthy talks to Parsons….duh…. It’s just not coaching, game situations, etc.
  • Quinn had to spend tons of time with Parsons and develop an open relationship because he was asking him to do so much and also needed to monitor how much might be too much.
  • McCarthy is the guy who told Parsons that the league will prepare for him and now they need to prepare him for that this year….adjustments to adjustments
  • Quinn gave McCarthy most of the credit for all the INTs this year as Mike had the idea of using all the Juggs machines at practice shooting balls at everyone during practice. Quinn said he’d never heard of or seen that before.
I think McCarthy is clearly doing things like this, like those Moments in practice (forget what he called them) to prepare guys for the big moments in games. He was responsible early in the season sending the message of balance, needing to run the ball to win, to Moore.

Could he do more? Always. Must he do better with game and clock management? Clearly. Or at least explain what he’s thinking whether we agree or not….no more BS about cameras blocking the view, etc.

This team needs more discipline and focus regarding stupid penalties. There will always be penalties of effort, close calls, but those key moments in the Redzone and on third downs can be practiced as moments of focus that one cannot commit a penalty because there’s no next play to make up for it.

But McCarthy is not walking around all week doing nothing, and after this year, I think we will see more micro-management. Time will tell if that’s good or bad.

May seem odd to say this but I notice he's wearing a watch. That's something you don't see as much today as you did before cellphones ( 70s, 80s). But something I've noticed, people wearing watches today are usually sensitive to time management..........well organized.

Originally, I had intended to support Big Mike but lately, I'm starting to think he's with Dallas more out of convenience than anything else. I can't say as I blame him much, considering he's having to put up with Jerry and Stephen. I won't be too surprised if Quinn takes over for MM in 2023. Gotta wonder if he'll be inclined to tolerate Jerry's ways, once he's subjected to his and Stephen's incompetence. It's really a slippery slope to deal with. Perhaps working around Will McClay will render his job somewhat more tolerable? We'll see.

Reminds me of the Office Space clip where the consultants ask the guy “what exactly would you say you do here?”

MM said the offense was all Kellen Moore and Dak. None of the defensive players even speak to him. We lead the league in penalties and are terrible at game management.

But he has as many “RINGS ERNEH” (Shaq voice) as Sean Payton so the general stupid populace that is incapable of thinking for themselves believes hes some great coach.

If cowboys players had any respect for MM they would not dare say such things on TV . I don’t see players daring to say this about beliceck or Bruce arians . Heck, Arians berated Tom Brady during practices .
The media has caught up again with Jerry’s latest illusionary coach and will continue to scrutinize the fact MM is not in control . This will spiral badly and the rumors will fly all season . This translates to another mediocre season and a pink slip . Jerry’s MO has not worked . Need a successful no BS coach who can command fear and respect in the locker room . Otherwise, players will just play for the check and not hav any fire or motivation.
