The team was on fire offensively without Gallup and didn’t miss a beat

I agree with getting rid of Cooper and keeping Gallup, been saying it for 2 years. But we need to get something for him versus releasing him. Hopefully someone offers a trade first
Apparently no one will trade for him at his cap #. Which is the same reason Dallas is cutting him

He’ll make more money in FA by getting another signing bonus. Don’t you think the team has offered to restructure already?
I seriously doubt Dallas has offered to restructure, at least not at the same rate. I think Jerry's ego is hurt because he wouldn't take the shot, then ended up missing 2 games over Covid and a couple more with what it did to him. Fact is Jerry gave him the contract and as Jimmy said, never wants to admit he was wrong, and I think Stephen is even less likely to admit it. They have an out, and have been totally shafted by this board, etc, over contracts and have an out with him. I think they use it instead of ever admitting the Zeke, and Dak, and Tank contracts have all been substantially worse contracts.

I don't know why Coop would take any less $$$$, no. He will probably get a lot closer to his current contract in FA than most people want to admit.

If as someone stated Coop will get 15-18 and he really gets 18M........Is all this worth the 2M many perceive he is getting overpaid.

Stephen and Jerry Jones are sorry as he l l if they can't trade away a #1 WR and get some compensation rather than releasing him for nothing. More evidence the Joneses are why the Cowboys are not a good on the field organization.

The smart teams would get a pick for him. It’s miserable that we have clowns running our organization.
Nobody is paying him 20 million a year. They would rather take a chance and see him released and get him cheaper. I’m assuming you didn’t understand the numbers

Gallup isn't 100% correct? ACL lol

Gallup and Lamb. 2 4.5+ wrs.

Make Dak Beat You will become Make Dak and Two Slow WRs Beat You.

We'll spend almost as much on Gallup, have to guarantee more money, and be left with starting WRs with no speed between them, one of whom is coming off a knee injury.
The worst of all worlds.

If we're going to spend money at WR, just continue with the Cooper contract. Maybe next year when he has no guaranteed money we can squeeze him for a salary cut.

Ranking of options.
1) Move on from pricey WRs and let Lamb be our WR1.
2) Stick with Cooper and draft some WRs with real picks, planning to move on next year.
3) Cut Cooper and sign Gallup to a cheap 1 year prove it deal. Kind of a win-win for this year, but even more so we need to draft WRs. Possible.
.
.
.
1000) Extend Gallup multiple years for a big signing bonus, and kick the cap money hit down the road.

I dont see any Madden in it. I just dont think you understand contracts and how NFL players view them. Coopers contract isnt as unattractive as you think it is. There is very little guaranteed left, and he has every incentive to negotiate. Once this year is up, he is year to year. That is very unattractive to NFL players
He is guaranteed 20 million in 2 weeks. What are you talking about? He would have to agree to renegotiate and move his family and probably go to a team that isnt that good. Money isnt everything. And its not the ONLY thing they look at when asked to renegotiate.

He’ll link up with a real QB and homers here will wonder what happened.
LOL. Yeah. 2 different teams. 2 different QBs. 1 QB he had career years with. He plays for Dallas. Yet. His road numbers are horrible for both teams.

Whats the constant here?

You can't just "get a pick" for a guy when his contract is 100% the reason he is being released. Could a team make it work? Absolutely, provided Cooper would agree to the terms. Will a team make it work? Absolutely not, because Cooper likely will not agree to the terms (even though he reasonably should) and everyone suspects Dallas will not keep him.

LOL. The Eagles flip clowns like Wentz for picks but our brain trust can't even get a pick for Cooper or even use him maybe packaged with a pick to move up in the first or 2nd round.

Jerry and Stephen pretty much stink at trades and understanding the value of their players.

They traded a first for Cooper, re-signed him to a deal that made it very unlikely you could retain beyond the 2nd year due to the cap hit. It was poorly planned and executed from the jump...

This FO is pretty bad. I wouldn't be surprised if we somehow cut Amari, but Gallup also decides he wants to play elsewhere and we just get left with CeeDee and then we go into the season with CeeDee and some receivers we picked off the scrap heap from some other team.
