Helman: This is the most frustrated I’ve seen the Cowboys fanbase

Why are we getting rid of the punter but keeping Zuerlein? It's these sort of 'I'm cool with the management/coaches' type of decisions that keep this franchise mired in mediocrity.
Zuerlein and Bones are literally BFFs.

Let me count the reasons:

1. We're paying a middle of the pack QB top 5 money and we're stuck for a few years.
2. We're overpaying a RB that is washed.
3. We have a head coach that is not good at his job and is just a place holder.
4. We are losing Cooper, our All-Pro punter, a break out WR, and who knows who else?
5. We used or franchise tag on a TE that can't block and is not good enough to earn whatever he makes from that tag.
6. We're probably going to sign Gregory to deal that he 100% does not deserve because "we like our guys".
7. We have an offensive coordinator that doesn't seem fit for his job.
8. We have an inept FO that has no clue how to build a winning team and it seems more so everyday that the team will be left into even worse hands when Jerry is no longer in charge.
9. Our priority signing seems to be focused on a WR that is coming off an ACL tear and won't even be ready for the start of the season.
10. Basically we are going to be a less talented, a year older, and another year of wear a tear version of last years disappointing team that couldn't compete anytime they faced a good team.

I'm sure I'm missing some things.
this is a good start. I would but number 8 as #1.....this is all the FO. we have stephen jones who runs the team like an accountant....

I was watching a draft chat with Helman and Cavanaugh last night, they both said this is the most frustrated they’ve seen Cowboys fans in their time covering the team. That something feels different about the mood of the fanbase right now. Do you agree?

Yessir -- I can say for certain that this is the most frustrated I've been in my many years as a Cowboys' fan.

The inability of our FO to extract themselves from being the hapless clowns of the past is beyond tolerable.

100%. For years, I’ve periodically been called a hater. But I cannot remember a time in my adult life that I’ve been more pessimistic about this team. I can’t think of one single area that I’m genuinely excited for, moving forward.

One of the LB positions?

I certainly agree. How can we not be? They wasted a golden opportunity this past season. And now they have to gut the team because of poor cap management.

Who wouldn’t be frustrated?
A few weeks ago I posted something about that they already did their version of "going for it" and it didn't work. We are now entering the part where we pay for that.

The team just didn't go far enough to make anyone realize that's what they were doing.

Caving to holdouts and overpaying 90 and 21 were about trying to justify keeping Garrett around. Cooper as well.

He’s our one saving grace! The diamond amongst the trash haha. I’m just worried the Cowboys’ terrible culture of entitled mediocrity will stifle Micah’s enthusiasm, like it has so many other good young players.
Unless we get someone in charge who comprehends how to form a complete team, it doesn't matter anyway.

We don't comprehend how to go for it.

All us fans have lived the "Ground Hog Day/season" for the past 26 years...its at the point where no matter what this team does, nothing will change the outcome...we play great during the season but come playoffs (if we get in) we look as if we haven't played a single game all year...rinse repeat...

Major disappointment comes to mind. It’s like being out on the ocean with a small boat and I can’t see land anywhere in sight. Suddenly, my boat springs a leak and I use what ever I can find to plug the hole (roster). All of a sudden there is another hole and I continue to patch, then another hole appears until I realize that my options are evaporating fast and all will be lost. By the way I got these passengers along for the ride (Jerry and Stephen). I’m freaking out, Stephen keeps saying “I knew all along that this boat had holes but I thought we could use what ever was on the boat to keep us afloat”. WE HAVE A SALARY CAP! Jerry, chimes in “Let me be frank son....I have two Cowboys brand life jackets for me and Stephen and shortly there will be a boat load of fans that will come along with their hard earnings to save us”. I can’t swim! Enjoy folks!

Flipping through this thread.....

Keep in mind people that hang around here are the one percenters that know their stuff.

The rest of them will be chanting Jerry's name in Oxnard.....and the like.....in a few short months.

I'm not worried about losing our unique advantage of no middle man anytime soon.

I just wish that they would commit one way or the other. This latest is just another bandaid on a gaping wound.

So you’re going to cut your bad contracts? No problem. Do that. Cut Cooper AND Lawrence. But don’t turn around and use that newly found cap room to take a good TE. And that’s what Schultz is. A good TE. Not a franchise player. Not an $11 million player.

Don’t get out of one mistake only to jump into another. Don’t mortgage the future to continue to overpay your own good players as if they were great players. They’re not.
