He’s been complete garbage. GM is year round not just 3 days in April. His decision making for decades has been a joke. Takes much more than the draft. And even there, the trade ups, the reaches. Think about the waste of rookie deals they blew through even with the good picks. His head is up his own behind and it’s a serious problem!
Don’t forget that Jerry is a busy man. I mean he so much to do and so little time- he has to promote that big fight, concert and tractor pull coming at the stayjum. Don’t forget the family yacht trip to Greece, the helicopter rides selling new advertisers and the party bus time at the combine.

Meanwhile real GMs are buried in their offices under the same salary cap rules as the Cowboys yet are somehow able to sign big FAs and put together a 7 round draft plan. But those guys’ jobs are on line.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones would be willing to write a check to win a Super Bowl title or even make a deal with the devil.

"The facts are that I would right now, if I could, and I knew that I had a good chance to do it, I’d do anything known to man to get in a Super Bowl," Jones said Tuesday, per Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk. "That’s a fact. There’s nothing, in my mind, that can have a higher priority than that."

nothing, in my mind, that can have a higher priority than that...... higher than his family? making money? petting his ego? talking into microphones? :rolleyes:signing dak and elliot?o_O

my edit of that. I think when they print his statements they clean it up and leave out all or some of the jerry speak, the uh,s etc.
"The facts are uh uh, that I would right now,uh relative to the future of the cowboys, uh uh, if I could,(sadly he cant lol) uh uh, and I knew uh uh, that I had a good chance, relative to football to do it,uh uh, I’d do anything known to the uh uh, jones family to get in a uh uh,Super Bowl," (notice he didnt say win, just get in one lol)

Other than hiring a coach that would make him slightly uncomfortable and wouldn’t coddle him like the manchild that he is.

Jerry. How do you not get that you are the problem. It's obvious to everyone else.

This modern FO is not jerry. It's stephen. We all wanted Jerry to give up the reins, but the grass isn't greener on the other side. instead of the free wheeling and dealing jerry that would generate excitement, we got a penny pincher that tries to throw together a team with scraps in free agency and tries to out bargain players by continually franchising them, but gets spanked when the players get offended and then start holding out for obscenely large contracts that he has no other choice but to pay.

The reality is, you need to get the Jones family PERIOD away from the GM role. I don't know how many more decades of losing it will take for them to realize that maybe they need to hire a specialist who knows how to GM and move out of the way.

No you wouldn't. I completely believe you want very badly to get back to the Super Bowl, but you wont do anything to get there. If you would you wouldn't make it conditional on you having to be the GM. You admitted yourself several years back that if someone else had been the GM you would have fired them. Nothing has happened since to think that doesn't still apply.

Everything but truly evaluate players you drafted before giving them huge contracts and hampering the team. Now we are going to lose most our talent and be at the bottom of the league. Last year was their chance. The QB crapped the bed repeatedly.

Old news buddy,he said this last year I believe.
Every year, he is a liar.

If this is true, the news is really worse because he’s been saying this for years which means he’s been pulling out all the stops and this is all he has to show for it?

Jerry reminds me of that traveling salesman from The Outlaw Josey Wales.

Jerry has a lot going on. You would think after 30 years, he’d actually care about success ON the field. He don’t give a crap about winning or the fans. He’s made that pretty clear!

He hasn't been atrocious as GM, but the culture he creates is where I have the most issue. The Cowboys draft well enough. But the lack of empowerment coming from the HC department is the issue I have. The last few times he has forced a Coordinator on his HC. That's unacceptable. He did it with Wade, then did it with big Mike. Also, is it me or does it feel like Dan Quinn has more say so than big Mike? I'm probably wrong but he seems to carry a voice.

I can just picture ol' Jerry spending weeks of 10-12 hour days, breaking down film and putting together that draft board. :muttley:

More likely that he meets with McClay, scouts, and coaches, the week of the draft and reviews their work for an hour or two.

Jerry is a meddlesome old man playing with his toy. It's his right to do it, but it's also detrimental to things he claims he wants.

It’s funny that some still use the pro bowl as a testament to Jerry’s drafts but not the actual NFL postseason. Pro Bowl is a crap game voted on by fans and it means absolutely nothing. Win real games. A pro bowl nod is as meaningless as executive of the year!

I'll give him credit for being smart enough to have a football guy (McClay) handle the draft. He's not sitting there doing hours of research, but the buck still stops with him. So his name has to be attached to those drafts. Same blame when there is a miss, like Taco for instance.
