The Cowboys have made very serious mistakes that they need to fix, first of all not realizing defensively, that at this time the NFL is a QB league, having signed Zeke with that contract is a very serious mistake, in this league you no longer win with RB you win with QB and defenses. It is required to invest in OT and DE not in RB.
The contracts of D-Law- Zeke - Cooper, and especially Dak's, are serious mistakes, Dak's contract is a serious mistake to the non-transfer clause, it is urgent to clean this equipment.

it is a mistake to retain D-Law, it is not worth what they are paying him, and they are not going to get anywhere retaining him, it is necessary to rebuild the team, the cowboys look lost and aimless, they do not know the times they are living . The NFL is a QB league, therefore defense against the aerial attack is required, defenses that pressure the QB, the winning teams and that have reached the playoffs have this characteristic. It requires not just one but two double-digit players in terms of sacks. examples:

Rams - Von Miller 13 sacks, Aaron Donald 19 sacks
Steelers - T.J. Watt 22 sacks Cameron Heyward 11 sacks
49ers - Nick Bosa 21 sacks Arik Armstead 10 sacks
Bengals - Trey Hendrickson 20 sacks, Sam Hubbard 12 sacks
Titans - Harold Landry 16 sacks, Jeffery Simmons 14 sacks, Denico Autry 13 sacks

Tampa do the same in 2020 with T Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre Paul

D-Law is not a double digit player in sacks.

Now you see the chargers going in this same direction, making a transfer for Khalil Mack and now this pair with Joey Bosa, this is something that the Cowboys don't have and won't have if they stay with D-Law.
Micah Parsons should be a DE, but he needs a partner on the opposite side, who can also have double digit sacks, and the only way to get one is in the Draft since they are expensive players in free agency.

If we look at the model that the Rams implemented and especially what the defense did in the SB, we have this statistic: 7 sacks, 4 hits, 15 rushes, 26 pressures, 1 pressure every 2 passes from Burrow, this is not what Dallas has, nor hey will, if they doesn't renew the front line starting with the DE.

cowboys look lost and stuck in the past, they need to turn the wheel and adapt to the times and be aggressive.

I see your point. We pit our coins in the wrong slots because "we like our guys" creates shortsightedness on the part of the FO.

The biggest mistake I see is keeping most the same players that haven't got it done, and hoping they magically get it done.

Yep, "keeping the band together" has become a recurring theme for the last 15 years. I attribute it to:

1. Believing they have a SB caliber QB. First Romo, now Dak. (Doesn't matter if we agree)
2. Believing they're "close", which is often fool's gold in a league that changes so much from year to year.
3. Utmost confidence in "their guys", and a strong desire to be proven right.

Of course, only front office guys with jobs-for-life can operate that way. Most get 5 years, tops, to win something or get fired.

While DE is certainly a very important position…it’s far from what separates the Cowboys from good teams. The willingness to add impactful players from outside of the organization is what has and will continue to hold the cowboys back as a franchise.

Trying to think…besides Cooper, who has been acquired from outside of the organization that has had any kind of significant impact in the past decade?

They not only look lost, they are lost.

We've had some damn good teams in the past 10 years. What we haven't had is a guy like Jimmy Johnson who held players accountable. The Jones family sure as hell don't...

This is the functional problem with this FO in a nutshell. Overrate your own talent, sell it HARD to the fan base, overpay for the same guys who haven’t done much, go cheap in FA “because of the cap”….It’s their playbook. And it’s the only one they have.

Part of it is that Jerry Jones has this ridiculous idea that if someone is paid a certain way, they ought to perform at a high level.

DeMarcus Lawrence should be a premier pass rusher because "ahh pahy uhm tuh bay."

Idiot.

And G*d forbid if they would deviate from that MO, hire a real GM who gets a real HC with staff and win the SB within the first 3 years. They would never hear the end of it...."How come you didn't do this sooner?"...and confirm to the world who the real problems were in Dallas the past 26 years. They are stuck between a rock and a hard head, their egos.

Absolutely nobody. The biggest names they have signed the past ten years were CB Brandon Carr in 2012 (and he was simply solid and not a difference maker) and DE Greg Hardy in 2015 (who was more of a distraction than an asset).

Khalil Mack is considered a big sack guy?
