Are you ok with throwing away 2022 to get Payton and clear cap for 23?

Seems like that’s what Stephen is doing. Jerry wants Sean and wants to make it the most attractive situation possible for him. Wouldn’t be surprised if players who get injured shut it down early to improve draft stock also next year.

I feel bad for McCarthy. 2020 was decimated by injuries and 2022 the team is organically tanking. He had his 1 shot last year and that will be it.

How is this different from the last 26 years and exactly what does Sean bring In his resume which exceeds Mac. In the end doesn’t matter still an overhyped bunch of worthless players who don’t show up in big games. Wait till next year approach…please…embarrassing approach for a once proud organization.

That's taking a very big leap to come to that conclusion of tanking. Let's play the what if game...we stay healthy all year enough to win the division and win a playoff game. Then what? Then I'm guessing Mac stays and gets an extension. No, I am not ok throwing it away and not sure Payton would be OK clearing cap which would mean a rebuild if understanding your question.

Jerry is going to be 80 in October. You’re out of your mind if you think he’s going to just have a rebuild season.
What would you call what they’re doing? At minimum giving away your No. 1 WR and RT.

Normally I’d agree with you but I think his infatuation with Sean is too much for him to ignore.

Tanking may not be the right word as they’re not trying to get the No. 1 pick. But they are doing everything to make sure 2023 is best set up for success even if it costs them 2022.

We’ll see what the final roster looks like but from the looks of things now if McCarthy wins a playoff game he’ll deserve every bit of an extension. (I think he’s as good as Payton anyway IMO)

What’s different is they’ve never moved on from multiple big pieces that still had years available to them before. They’ve let their own go and cut guys that couldn’t play anymore like Dez. But cutting/trading guys that are still playing at a top lever starter caliber is new for them much less multiple ones.

Whike I thought this route was certainly an option, it doesn’t look to me like that’s what they’re doing.

Keeping Lawrence’s deal (which they are so far) goes against that, as does tagging Schultz.

I like the fact they are churning the roster. It's been a long time coming and I hope they are viewing the entire roster for future cuts to avoid paying good players top money. I don't think it has anything to do with the next HC. Payton is not coming to Dallas. The price will be extraordinary as long as the Saints own his rights. Quinn would most likely be next man up at the HC position.

It is going to be thrown away whether any of us are happy with it or not.

They’ve done this multiple times in the past 26 years. They haven’t cut or got rid of anyone who is playing at the top level just more overhyped talent this organization feels is top level. Dez is your only player…geesh.

Payton isn’t some savior coach. This team needs much more than just a HC.

Doesn't make a difference who the HC is IMO. Until the Jones boys get out of the media, stay off of their radio shows and allow the HC to set the culture...Dallas will be what they have been, money making machine that won't win playoff games.

no. tell me why payton is so great and how he is going to make a difference? he has as many superbowls as MM. he did it with a HOF QB. tell me the difference?

this is not an endorsement of MM. its just that I don't see the difference between the two. except one of them is more likable.
