If they designate Collins a post June 1 cut, they would have plenty of room to re-sign their guys AND add an impact free agent.

You do not actually get the money from a post June 1 cut until June 1 (even if it is a pre-designation). So unless they are signing them after June 1st, it is not going to help.

https://overthecap.com/explaining-the-june-1st-designation/

"I think where many people get confused, though, is when they hear that “player x” could be designated a June 1 cut and immediately jump to conclusions that it means a spending spree in March. The league allows each team to designate up to two players per year as a June 1 cut for cap purposes prior to June 1. It’s the one concession that was given to the players as it allows a player to be cut in March and have time to explore free agency but have his cap hit spread out over two seasons, thus creating more cap space in the current year. The issue though is the mechanism by which this works.

When you designate someone as a June 1 cut the player and his current contract remain on the books until June 1."

So you tell Gallup to take a 3 month vacation, rehab on a beautiful island somewhere, and we'll take care of him in June. LOL

Be interesting to see Kevin Stefanski and what plays he can cook up to free up Cooper in open space. I will say this going up against Baltimore Pittsburgh and the SB Bengals in 2022 twice a yr will not allow Cooper to feast on donuts at the NFC East breakfast bar .

According to Over the Cap,

Cowboys Draft Picks
Round 1: No. 24 overall
Round 2: No. 56 overall
Round 3: No. 88 overall
Round 4: No. 127 overall
Round 5: Nos. 154, 166 and 175 overall
Round 6: No. 191 overall
As far as the cap goes, Gehlken reported the Cowboys
now have an extra $16 million in cap space. Prior to the
move, Dallas was listed as having $19.7 in cap space,
per Over the Cap. This trade pushes them close to $36
million in cap space, giving them the sixth-most room in
the NFL.
Wow!!!!
We can now slurge in free agency!!!!!!!!
Right????
Crickets????

Fish has been told that they have told Collins' agent to find a trade partner.
I’d rather just release him and make him a post June 1st cut and take the $10 mill. You can restructure with the intention of massive cap relief next season.

A trade gets us $1.3 and we know we are not capable of getting fair picks back

Hope fully we can trade L’ael and get another $10,000,000 off the books.

Only get the 10 million if he's designated a post June 1 cut/trade. Getting rid of Collins now only saves $1.3 million of cap but much, much more in 2023.

We will need $7-$8 million to sign our draft picks. Sign them in June after Collins money comes off the books and use all the money we have now on free agency.

Best case scenario is on draft day, trade the 5th round pick for a fourth for the following year, that’s a win.

Reality is we missed our window when we were paying our QB peanuts vs 20% of the entire cap.
Go look and see what he counts toward the cap this year before making that comment. The cap is 205 million. He will count around 26. Math is your friend and not cliches

Will be interesting to see if he makes Baker get resigned similar to him getting traded here and doing what he did with Dak. With his brand coming out, target complaints and vaccination status which i believe in 2 years wont even matter this was kind of in the tea leaves
