As if the team wasn’t ruined pre Dak. He’s only a product of a bad culture. I’m guessing had he went to a real franchise like NE or Pittsburgh he’d be wearing rings by now.

I will never figure out where Dak got the feeling he deserves elite $$$$$, that's crazy. He is a middle of packer so ya pay him middle of the pack. Dak should have never asked for the $$$$ he did that was simply greedy.

I'll say it again, a single dude needs 40 mill a year, hell no that's ridiculous. All that endorsement $$$ AND 40 mill.......yep, greedy~~~

Dead serious.....I would have "so what do ya think is fair Jerry".....and gone with his amount.

the 2016 decision to go with him over Romo leading to a first round exit

This was big - and if I remember right they were concerned about how Dak would “feel” if he were replaced at that point - when Tony had healed. D

makes you wonder - where was 4 in sticking up for 19 before the trade…. Seems that 19 may have been staring an obvious truth after 19 stated the obvious towards the end of the season “I can win games, IF they me get the ball”.

FO too worried about how a 40M man feels????

So one contract has nothing to do with our cap troubles, but the other does. That doesn't make sense.

It would if you understand the landscape.

You are going to have to pay an elite QB that kind of money. It is a built-in expense.

We think it is different because our last two QBs that fit the role were an undrafted FA and a 4th round pick.

This has zero to do with whether or not you believe Prescott is a franchise QB. He is at least what is the definition.

Is Kirk Cousins a franchise QB? No. Neither is Prescott.

But there is an established price tag. It cannot be avoided.

I would have never signed Zeke, Cooper, Dak, or DLaw at those prices. None of them were worth it, IMO.

Then spell out what you would have done, please.

What is "worth it" in your mind?

It is pretty clear to me you just want to complain but you lack a fundamental understanding of the process.

I am not trying to excuse what the team has done, but some of the things you suggest are just detached from reality.

That is okay, you are like pretty much every fan.

So Dak got market price, but Zeke was over paid. Okay I gotcha.

Dak's low arching passes are a chink in his armor. Zeke's piss poor stiff-arm is a chink in his armor. DLaw played selfish football during his contract years, I wouldn't have paid him. Take less or walk would have been my message to all of those guys.

Think about all that we’ve given up for this teams buy in with him

-cap hell for the next decade

-losing out on good players and free agents

-he’s about to get his second coach fired next year

-the 2016 decision to go with him over Romo leading to a first round exit

-squandering the best cowboys team in 20 years with another first round exit due to poor qb play

-cutting or trading players who don’t get along with Dak or we just can’t simply afford them anymore

Think about the following qb option we had the last 2 years

1. Tom Brady
2. Aaron Rodgers
3. Russell Wilson
4. Dashaun Watson
5. Matt Stafford

And Dak makes more money than all of them. I know this isn’t all predicated on Dak but it’s kind of hard not to feel that we’ve been cheated out of something since we signed him to this ridiculous deal

Although I wasn't in favor of signing Dak, Jerry and friends didn't entertain any good free agents when Dak was on his rookie contract. And Dak was a 4th round pick, he was making like 500k a year. I forgot when Romo came off the books, but we had a few years there of almost free QB play. Yet no real interest in free agency.

I agree with you 100%, but they all do it, not just Dak. Don't you think the Ravens and Browns would be fine with paying their QBs their value? They won't sign for anything less than market value coming off their rookie deal. They are counting on their team to pay them anyway because they don't have anything better. It's what we call price gouging.

There is no way that Brady, Rodgers, or Wilson would play for a monkey show that we have in Dallas. Those guys have tasted what victory is and won championships. Stafford would still be winless in the post season had he come here. You still have a shot with Watson. Good luck on that. I'm not going to even touch the nonsense in the beginning of the post.

Jerry hitching his wagon to over achieving 4th round/undrafted QBs thinking he found the next Brady is what has ruined this team.

Dak and Romo getting big contracts is not their fault. I'm not mad at them for getting paid.

Jerry is where the blame should go for paying guys that's talents are not in the same universe as their contracts.
he is a linebacker playing shot put back there

Stop grouping Dak and Romo together as if the quality of QB play, careers, and teams were equivalent. Romo’s contract hardly cash strapped the Cowboys either. Dak was given a silver platter. Romo earned everything he got.

On this team it makes sense to be greedy when the owner is dumb as a rock. There is just no end to their stupidity, and every player knows it. There is no allure in Dallas anymore, but there is the chance to get overpaid even if you are mediocre. Look at WR right now. Our # 1 gone because he questioned the mediocre QB. Meanwhile, Wilson, who played better than Gallup, is gone while we will overpay Gallup coming off a knee injury. It's just...what can you even say? In another year or so, this culture will have poisoned Parsons, too.

Said this 3 years ago and the Dak lovers on this board kept insisting Dak is elite . We have seen nothing but mediocrity from Dak . But now it is too late . Jerry caved on Dak and we still have to pay zeke the bum . Crazy front office moves .

Getting stafford and letting Dak walk would have been best . Would love. To get Kyler Murray or Rodgers to the cowboys , but Jerry and Stephen also gave Dak the no trade option. Crazy .

Dak, no Dak…..Romo, no Romo……

No matter the QB or whatever position, can overcome the ineptitude of this front office. Our next franchise QB won’t be able to overcome it as well. We could have Brady and still underachieve…..

thats a lot of excuses

considering Dak had Cooper, lamb, pollard, Wilson, Zeke/pollard and put less points on the 49ers than Justin Fields

I’m well aware of the cap situation of the other qbs but you overlooked one HUGE Thing

ALL of those qbs are BETTER than Prescott
We have now entered the Dak rebuild and just like the last washed talent pool at best we will have 1 more playoff win in another 6 years of Dak-Friendly!!!:omg:

A team that is favored to repeat as division champion isn't ruined.
