Trading Cooper frees up $16 million and leaves the front office with about $20 million in cap space.

Extending Schultz could create another $6 million in space.
Next yr we could have legit cap space as many of these big deals will be off the books

Ooh, butthurt much?

The player was just tagged at $11 million. He’s not about to sign a long term deal for less than that. Big lie to yourself if you need to.

The fact is that there are plenty of Schultz level players in this league. That’s exactly WHY he was there in round 4. And he did what he did because he was the check down option in this offense. The fourth receiver of the group.

He’s not a ‘franchise’ player in any sense of the word. Or the cost.

lol.... let me know when the deal is signed if hes getting 11 million per. 4th rd talent ...lol, you mean like what we have at QB?

some more like a little girl in the meantime? My reading skills might not be the best, so you will need to explain a little.

Another thread expecting us to do anything.

They lock up Gallup and Kearse and we’re back to 0

Depends on how we want to pay it. The first year for both players shouldn't cost us more than $10 million, but we could lower the later cap hits by paying more upfront. Of course, we've got multiple other free agents to re-sign as well.

Finally have a team that looks like a young contender… and we are losing talent instead of adding talent.

Don't worry about it. Will McClay will be digging through the bargain bin for the Joneses to take care of that.

Prediction - we keep Kearse, Gallup or fall back to Wilson, Gregory, Hooker. Sign some FA contributors, maybe more 1- year contract guys.
Trade Collins and go drafting. The Cowboys will run the ball more in 2022.

Players like Kearse in particular need to be measured very carefully.

The whole deal now is that Quinn is here, but could be gone in a year if things go well.

He is different from Moore in my mind. He has shown he can create a turnaround and his players play for him.

I would give him what he needs within reason. And that means short term deals. Might be richer, but far smarter.

I am not certain Stephen Jones has the intellect to approach it that way.

I realize all players want to "feel the love" and get a long term contract.

The reality is that contracts are mostly meant to promote money the players will never ever see.

Unless you are like Elliott, who got fortunate enough to benefit off of one of the worst contracts in the history of the franchise.

We better draft a RB. Elliott is pretty much worthless. Pollard will likely head out when Stephen Jones gives him his "honest offer".

Wait a second, that is what McClay keeps talking about, the depth in this rookie class.

Always with an eye to the future, that guy.

Regardless of who they sign now, they got to where they are CAP-wise by trading one of their better players. As of now, the team is worse than it was in 2021. Let's see how it plays out from here.

I thought Dak and Martin combined was $22M.

$22,880,000 according to the numbers from OverTheCap.

Jarwin and Zurlein saved another $6,750,000 for a total of $29,630,000.

Trading Cooper is another $16 million so they cleared $45,630,000

But they were effectively about $23 million over the CAP. So right now they should be about $22 million under.

However, By removing these 3 players from the top 51 contracts, 3 other players would be bumped up into the top 51. This is no doubt why Sportrac is reporting the Cowboys are $18 million under and OvertheCAp is reporting they are $19 million under. Over-the-CAP lists Tyler Coyle, Isaac Alarcon, and Braylon Jones as the bottom 3 salary against the CAP and their combined CAP number is $2,115,000.
