Yes, 19 haas some of the sickest routes in the game. No doubt. The guy disappears when it’s crunch time and his attitude sucks. He is a “me first” instead of a team guy. The FO found that out too late in the game or thought he would change with the contract. Well that didn’t happen and here we are. His production did not constitute $20,000,000 a year. Sorry.

Good chess player, not a game changing WR. And definitely would not put it all on the line for his teammates.

Best of luck in Cleveland.

He was paid too much, which is absolutely not his fault and good for him. Always been a fan of his, and his first year or so he really created plays with his route techniques and created separation. He still can, but less so and can disappear at times - he's just not an Irvin/Dez type personality which unfortunately is a need at the position for a top tier guy. I don't think he is a "me first" guy - he's just a laid back dude with amazing physical gifts that is probably just glad to be paid $20m a year to play football.

It's not a great outcome, but I'm always amazed by fans who are like WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN MORE FOR HIM....you can't create a market that isn't there.

It doesn’t matter what Cleveland does next year in regards to play off seeding. The draft picks are for this draft not next year. Dallas gets the 12th pick in the 5th round and the 14th pick in the 6th round for Cooper and the 23rd pick in the 6th round.

As far as compensation goes we should be happy we got anything for him. Reports say that the Browns were the only team willing to take on his $20 million salary. In fact, I post on Eagles’ forum because I have a couple of friends that are Eagles’ fans. (Long story). Anyway, fans on that forum have been saying all week that no team would be stupid enough to give anything up for Cooper to take on that $20 million contract. They were.shocked we got a 5th.

Also, I went to a Browns’ forum and most seemed very lukewarm about the acquisition. Most don’t think Cooper justifies the cap hit.

True, my mistake about the draft picks, but still a 5th for Cooper is a dab deal for Dallas. They were not forced to trade him. They always had the option to say no to any trade offers. In this case, they should have said no.

Cooper's contract is a bogus argument. The Browns are not taking his pro-rated bonus on so his CAP starts at $20 million and can be restructured down as aggressively as the Browns want to do it. They could cut his CAP hit some and still get rid of him in 2023 if his performance does not match his contract while till getting a CAP save on his original CAP hit. Maybe they are worried he will disappear in big games like he did for Dallas. Maybe that's why only Dallas was willing to give up a 1st round pick for him in 2018.

Maybe our disappointment as fans is about the entire Cooper fiasco from the day Jerry gave up a 1st round pick for him.

Yes, the Browns can restructure Cooper and take less of a cap hit this year. However, they will have to take the full cap hit at some point because Cooper has no reason to take a pay cut. Example: Browns give him a $2 million salary this year and hand the other $18 million to him as a bonus. His cap figure drops to $8 million this year with $12 million pushed out to the future. If he disappoints this year and they cut him after the season then the entire $12 million would be dead cap for 2023. Restructuring just pushes out the Cap hit.

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t like Cooper being gone and I don’t like the compensation.

However, that contract was terrible. The contract was initially designed to be a 2 year contract that gave Dallas an option to get out of it if Cooper was not living up to the $20 million a year. Cooper should have never gotten that big of a contract but he had Jones and the boys backed into a corner because there is no way they could have him for half a year and let him walk after giving up a 1st round pick.

I'm a little surprised that more people don't see that after he was acquired for a 1st, he was given a 100 million dollar deal, developed foot problems, and aged three years.

That tends to make assets depreciate.

Like as soon as you drive that new car off the lot, it depreciate then.

Actually his QB is the one who disappears in crunch time. A WR is completely dependent on the QB for service.

Those same people upset about Coop being traded are same people that can't explain why Coop was originally traded by the RAIDERS of all teams.

If Cooper was that consistently good, he would still be in silver and black playing on a max contract.

Cooper is an EXCELLENT NFL receiver….Go back replay all the games & watch his sideline foot work catches….he’s one of the best in the league. If you can’t see that your freaking BLIND OR HAVE NO MEMORY AT ALL. Watch how many DB’s he just absolutely turns in circles….I played DB and that **** is EMBARRASSING LOL…I Think DUMB & DUMBER are either drinking too much or have early dementia….the older they get the more BONE HEADED they get.
You want to save some money!! TRADE ZEKE!!
He runs like my uncle who was born with 1 leg shorter than the other. DUMB & DUMBER just handed him a blank check and said write in what ever number you want Zeke….OR TRADE TANK!! SORRY But He Is So Over Rated And Always Has Been. The Moron Boys backed a DUMP TRUCK FULL OF CASH up to his house & left a mountain of it in the yard.
BUT NOOOOO ……Them Smart Billionaire Boys go and trade a GOOD SOLID TALENTED RECEIVER that’s never a problem, no drama in the locker room OR in his personal life, no domestic violence, no dwi, no drugs, just a straight up good dude……BUT WHAT DO THEY DO!!!….THEY KEEP A SLOW OVER PAID GIMPY RUNNING BACK & AN OVER HYPED DE…YEA!! THAT MAKES SENSE!!! THATS WHY WE WIN SO MANY PLAYOFF GAMES!!
I Must Be Just As Dumb To Keep Watching This Train Wreck Year After Year…..Lord Help Me

I think the disappointment is not at Cooper being traded. It is the compensation we got in return. We gave up a 1st round pick for him and got a 5th in return. And I expect the Browns will be in or near the playoffs so it is not going to be a high 5th round pick either. I would not have traded him for less than a 2nd. I don't care that other teams are scared by his contract. After acquiring him they are free to restructure his deal and reduce his CAP. He is young and still has 3 years on his deal. People keep telling me what a great player Cooper is. If so, why just a 5th round pick?

The Borwn don't have to worry about Cooper's bonus so he costs them only $20 million a year. Hand him a restructure bonus of $12 million and his CAP number goes down to $13 million in 2022.If he doesn't perform, the Browns can cut him in 2023 and still get a $10 million CAP save on his pre-restructure CAP number. This is what Dallas could have done but clearly their CAP situation pushed them into a bad trade.

Knowing he was being released had something to do with it. They'd rather wait and pick him up in FA without giving up any picks. But if you want to give him away super cheap, ok then.

And he plays receiver lol. If Hopkins got traded for nothing I don’t know why people thought Coop would net more.

Compare Dak's stats when Amari was in the lineup versus when he wasn't.
The Raiders and Chiefs games tell you all you need to. Couldn’t beat the Raiders at home on a short week without him.

Also if he plays both games he likely goes over 1,000 yards. I think a big reason he was traded was because he didn’t get vaxxed so he couldn’t play in those two games. Jerry listened to Irvin saying Amari cost the team selfishly and that’s the reason for moving on.

Raiders game we were missing Lamb and Cooper. Let’s be truthful in this narrative.

I don't know who 'ya'll' is because the post author is literally the only person I've ever heard say this about Amari.
It was a common talking point on this board. Yall love a soft spoken step and fetch it player that doesnt cause a ruckus.
