Resign Gallup, make it backloaded if you have to. 13m$ AAV could be 5m$ first year cap hit. Lamb will be that much better if he’s the sole focus of the opponent’s game plan. Trading Cooper only works if you have a plan in place to cover for him

@kskboys nailed the cap hit

I don't mind paying Gallup $12M a year. That's fair market value for him.

What I don't get is

A. why sign a 5 year deal to a guy coming off an ACL tear.

B. if you are going to throw that kind of money down on a WR, why not just pay Coop?

Gallup is kind of a one-trick pony as a deep sideline guy. It's a valuable trick, but being unable to separate underneath means he's maxed as a complementary receiver. Coop was a legit 3 level guy.

8 million extra buys two OL's.

no we are not first off

We save 16mil against the cap..umm yes better than nothing..i always thought the narrative is the FO takes too long holds on too long before letting and player go..they are getting ahead of his contract that helps cap room. he maybe a very solid 1 but hes not elite nor been great of late had little drive and passion to be any more then hes always been and now going top his 3rd team. Lamb and Gallup along with whatever else they come up with add Schultz is back will be fine..im more concerned about reestablish the OL and run game it will actually make the pass game better ..less options imo is better we can key one player per game and try and scheme him vs just saying oh well we have an embarrassment of riches at WR and still one and done in the payoffs. Far too many options like too large a menu that take forever choosing what top order, easier to target and scheme players , i mean its not leaving us without starers like in 18..lamb a first round pick and Gallups better then he was 3 years age. We wil eb fine stop whining and overreacting,. AC has not been special and not helped us get over the hump..

... accept change its part of life and part of sports.

no as a differing perspective doesn't make your side true..we have not seen the FINAL ROSTER YET, have we? have we seen any games to prove or disprove eithers side?

i say mines closer to the truth FA JUST started, just now and we have 6months until game 1 i say put the doom and gloom on hold until further evidence is collected.

They’re not “throwing that kind of money” to Cooper, that’s the whole point. Cooper would be making $20M+ a year versus the 12.5 for Gallup.

Trade all three 5ths and the 6th for a 3rd round pick and sit out the end of the draft.

Well signing hurt linebackers is one thing. Normally, these receivers have no issue coming back. Let's see what they sign him for but I have a feeling it will be a big deal.
Right. Michael Irvin tore his acl early in his career and came back to be a HoF receiver. And medical technology wasn’t what it is now. I don’t expect Gallup to be at the same level until sometime into the season, but he’ll be fine over the life of the contract.

Of course!

His salary for his recent production is way out of whack.
for career production too.
Amari is a tough case.
Entering his 28 year old season but with 7 as a starter behind him his body has been through a lot.
He fights plantar issues and has never hit 1200 yards receiving nor topped 8 TDs.

Put another way, last year he had the same number of targets as Dalton Schultz produced ~55 more yards and the same number of TDs.

If they just released him they got nothing this year. Wish they could have gotten a 3rd but it is what it is.

Yep... and we saw the best of Zeke over 2 years ago. Cowboys FO butchered the rule of never paying RB's which are a dime a dozen.

Yeah Zeke is cooked. Good news is RB is relatively easy to replace in the draft.

We have watched DLaw decline hard the past few years. Gregory doesn't have much mileage but he's 29.

They paid Gallup 12M a year so I’d rather just keep Cooper at 20M. I think Christian Kirk is getting something like 18M just to be a slot WR. I think those numbers are crazy you could get anyone out of college in a mid round to play for like 1M because of the CBA.
