For those that think the interest is only one sided.

Sick burn. Cowboys! in your face.

If we did do something like this, then I've got to credit it to the coaches. The Joneses badly wanted to retain Quinn so maybe he's been given some pull. It would be a stark departure from what we've seen from this front office.

Do we credit them for trying to do something else first?

Meaning, unless Von wants to give a deep discount, we won’t be strongly pursuing.

I always get the vibe that they don't like star players that became stars on other teams.

I remember being shocked that they signed TO.
Charles Haley, Deion Sanders, La'roi Glover, Terry Glenn, Leonard Davis, Kyle Kosier, Jay Novacek say hi. There was a time when Dallas would go and get a big name they wanted. These guys worked out. Galloway, Greg Hardy, Roy Williams did not.

I believe he does have some interest. But I think his preference is going back to the Rams and pulling Dallas into the mix will only help his cause to get a better contract w/LA.

You mean re-signing Gregory? I assume that we wouldn't have tried to do that if they weren't OK with it. But re-signing our own is something the Joneses would do without prompting. Paying big money for an outside FA goes against their stated philosophy. However, that philosophy was honed under Garrett, so maybe real coaches can have a real influence. I'm not betting on it, but maybe.

Nope. His preference is here not there.

Or maybe they just have no choice now. They tried to do their usual thing and the guy bailed on them.

Not the first time that's happened, and their past reaction is to just fill the seat for cheap. The only expensive free agent Dallas has signed since Brandon Carr in 2012 has been Greg Hardy, and that's because he came at a bargain because of his DV issues.
