guess Stephen couldn't get a pick for him, that's what happens when you telegraph your moves
Exactly. The Cowboys are the only team in the league that repeatedly announces their intentions to the whole NFL. Collins had fell out of favor with the team at a rapid rate. Showing up to camp overweight and out of shape must have really ticked Jerry off. The injuries didn’t do him any favors either.

LOL.

We have sufficient cap space now already to make a couple of good moves. We now will add roughly $10 million to that post June 1.

What the freaking freak doing with all this cap space they will have? Dont say draft picks because our pool cap slot is around $3.8 million for 2022.

Going to have almost $40 million in cap space on June 1 and not going to do a dam thing with it.

I'm sorry, but this has to be a tank job, there is literally no other logical explanation, they cant be this incompetent, can they?

It's really odd. They've been fairly incompetent for along time. They've been frugal or risk averse for a while, but this is just flat out cheap. Sure we question where they put the money, but they've always put it somewhere. The idea of Dallas sitting on 40 million and doing nothing is really odd.

If we don't burn 75% of that by week 1, there are only 2 possible reasons.

1 - they are preparing to blow it up
2 - they are in a bind financially. This one makes little sense to me, but I dont have a clue what Jerry gets into outside of football.

Edit 3 - moves are coming?

Who on earth would trade for him after last season?

do you know exactly what was happening behind the scenes? Collins is a major headache and teams all know it. Without a doubt they tried to trade him, teams said forget about it.

Right ON Reid1...I'm the first to criticize the Jones boys but not on this one. Collins is a friggin' head case and the league knows it. He'll be signed but it won't be for big money. If I'm a low tier team like the Jags or Lions I might take a cheap flyer on him. Too bad, he can play but he's a dolt.

Disagree. Every team thinks the head cases will be better on their team. AB anyone? Hell get signed, and it wont be on the cheap.

I’m sure we can draft 5 starting players in the draft and make a deep play off run guys

If anyone can do it, Stephen can

You guys really don't understand how huge salaries affect trades, it appears.

Teams are not trading for him because the Cowboys leaked to the media they would be releasing him over a week ago. The proof will be in what happens after Collins is free to sign with another team.

I do not understand the thinking behind this move Collins is still a good player to flat out release him and not get at least a 4th round pick for him is stupid.Should have still started him and kept Steele as swing tackle.Stephen Jones is making me lose my mind first trading Cooper for a 5th instead of restructuring his contract then losing Gregory and now cutting Collins. When Jerry passes this ******* is going to be in complete control.

I imagine that whole thing of him trying to bribe the drug tester and then getting caught out in a lie by AV evidence had something to do with this

Let's just hope this self-imposed player purge leads to equal or better talent in the end. I hope that's not asking too much. :omg:

On the fifth day of the league year, which is Sunday, his 2022 salary becomes guaranteed which means the Cowboys could not cut him and get a salary CAP save. But they could still trade him and at that point his salary hits the CAP of the team that takes him. But his $10 million CAP save does not become official until June 1. By June 1 free agency is over and the draft will have been completed. But the thing is, teams who did not get the OT they wanted in the draft will be looking for free agents and trades. There is a much better chance they will get a draft pick in the summer than now. I just do not see the point in cutting a quality player like Collins and getting nothing in return.

If they could have gotten a meaningful draft pick they would have. They couldn't get anything but a 5th or 6th draft pick and the FO thought the 10mil was more valuable.

My criticism isn't based on any of the guys we have parted ways with. It is based on who we aren't replacing them with. I give Dallas credit for one thing, they always keep me entertained. This is pure drama.
