That same language was in Collins' contract? Do you have a copy of those details handy? If you do, I'd really like to see it. How do you know there was no last minute change? You're making assumptions about which you don't really know the facts.

You're simply believing the Jones family, known liars, vs. Gregory's agent.

His agent may very well be a first-class liar, but we know Jerry & his son are snakeoil salesmen from the beginning.

Same reporter confirmed also in Collins and in other contracts rather than Prescott. Believe it’s been corroborated. It wasn’t a last minute add. It’s cowboys standard language.

Anybody can say anything and no one calls them out for it. Jerry should come out and call him out.

 The same reporter that told us Gallup was signing for $6M/yr and that 8 teams were trying to trade for Cooper?

Randy Gregory and his agent, Peter Schaffer, weren’t going to get into a back and forth with the Cowboys over Gregory’s decision to not sign with Dallas but to instead jump to Denver. But since the Cowboys are complaining to reporters about what transpired, Schaffer has decided to tell Gregory’s story.

Schaffer told PFT by phone on Tuesday evening that he had negotiated an agreement between Gregory and the Broncos, and that it was basically done on Monday night. Then, the Cowboys got heavily involved.

Per Schaffer, owner and G.M. Jerry Jones got Gregory on the phone to make the pitch. The Cowboys increased their offer to match Denver’s. As Schaffer tells it, the Cowboys told Gregory, “‘We love you, we will support you. This is the best place for you. We know who you are.'”

Gregory then decided not to sign with the Broncos, and to stay with the Cowboys. But next came the actual contract from the Cowboys. Schaffer said he was surprised to find language wiping out all guarantees in the event of any fine imposed by the NFL.

“No other teams have that language in their contracts,” Schaffer told PFT. “No other teams. Never in 30 years have I seen that language.”

Teams usually void guarantees in the event of a suspension. The Cowboys void guarantees in the event of a fine.

Schaffer said that the move bothered Gregory. The Cowboys had fallen behind in the negotiations, and then Jerry got personally involved. He cited the personal relationship, the familiarity.

Considering Gregory’s history and all the BS that he has brought on himself and the team, he should expect stipulations.

I guess Denver but don't see why it would make a difference.
You don't? It's not a stretch that he had a significant influence on Gregory signing with Denver. He's had jobs in Denver since the late 80's, his first job.

Yes, I think it's a stretch. The NFLPA certifies sports agents to work with its members. Shady behavior is probably the quickest way to lose that certification and ultimately lose the ability to work with the NFL. I doubt his agent would risk that. Provided they could still work with the NFL, who's going to sign up to be lied to?

Not to mention NFL cities are some of the most populous cities in the USA. Statistically, I would wager the vast majority live in a city with a franchise. How often have you suspected an agent of sabotaging a team so their hometown franchise can sign a 6-sack player? Just about never.

Honest question, do you think Randy Gregory has any clue about taxes? Might as well ask him about rocket science. The dude doesn't strike me as a sharp tool In fact, most people don't think about that.

I have the pleasure of working with and for the public. I can tell you that the general public is as dumb as rocks when it comes to any type of free thinking. You don't realize this unless you work with them.

Yeah, that’s fair as to ask if he knows about taxes, or cares. By my recollection at least on the wonder kid he scored quite well and iirc reported as quite intelligent. But aptitude and ignorance are different, and I agree many Americans are quite ignorant. I think he came from an in-tact middle class family so I think his knowledge of taxes is a toss up. But I’d be quite confident his agent is well aware of taxes.

as for why he might leave, I mean, he might just now want to live in Dallas. That’s as plausible as anything. It’s not like there is great appeal in living in DFW outside of taxes and I guess lack of cold winters…so maybe he chose near mountains over a strip-mall city. All guess work.

in this case I find it hard to imagine leaving the org that supported him so much unless he really believes they tried to screw him over. But I do like your take on the public. Very susceptible to divide and conquer on any topic.

Id like to think we can all agree Stephen is a clown and zeke is overrated lol…but even I know that is not something we all agree on.

No, that's something we can agree on. This organization is not in it to win it. They're happy being a decent to good team every year with the occasional blip. Their SOP will not change.

I heard Denver, or the Denver area was a very nice place to live. But who knows what besides money motivates players? If it were me, I'd stay away from Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Detroit, and Minnesota. I'd take less to play in Florida, California, Texas, and maybe even Denver from what I hear. I don't like frozen wastelands, or out of the way frozen wastelands. But that's just me. But most of these players would move to Canada if they paid them more.

I had hoped that Gregory would appreciate all of the chances that our brass did for him. It's not too surprising that they wanted reassurance that he would keep his word about staying clean, after he was forgiven so many times. I lost respect for him somewhat when I noticed he was smiling after he screwed up several times with bad penalties and just smiled about it afterward. I lost a fair amount of respect for him after seeing that. Same deal with his agent.

This is what happens when you pay grown men who would otherwise be in prison millions to play a game.

Yes because prison is filled with well educated grown men. I wonder what it could be about the average NFL player that would give you that false impression….

Your basis for that is? Oh right you made it up because almost all you said is verifiably wrong. You did manage to prove my original assertion about your reason right though so good job with that.
