Every player we’ve lost a downgrade is taking over unless we find something better in the draft. We’ll see about the kicker.

RDE is about the same. LB no. WR big no. OL no. S no. ST big no. FA ain't done, but I'm not sure we sign any real upgrades. I hope so.

I am not sure most of the teams that have been active in FA have actually upgraded.

FA seems to be a fan watch thing that they celebrate or commiserate prematurely. I remember when the Eagles were going to win it all with the Dream Team.

If I am a Broncos fan, am I jazzed about the Gregory signing or giving up all those picks and players for Wilson? Dolphins giddy about Williams? Browns fans lose Beckham, then Landry and get Cooper. Think they haven't looked at his disappearing act in OAK and DAL?

Real upgrades come from within the team. If this team is to do anything, some 2nd and 3rd years players are going to have to step up and step in.

Found Stephen's burner

I love the people convinced Gregory isn't a good player who has to be accounted for on every snap he plays. I am not saying he is Lawrence Taylor but stop pretending he can't play just because you don't like him. I see the same thing with La'el Collins. They are good players and the Cowboys were a better team for having them. Gregory, Lawrence and Parsons were a formidable pass rush. I think they complimented each other. Missing Gregory could effect them as well if Fowler does not have some game in him. Unless they don't find some quality guys in the draft or free agency both players will be missed.

IMHO, relying on Dak is not going to win them any championships. They need to run the ball and play defense. That is the quickest way for them to get deeper into the playoffs. Just bringing back the guys they have is not going to get them to where they need to be. But not bringing back the best guys on the defense is surely going to make this strategy a lot harder to achieve. I don't think our secondary is good enough to withstand a good passing attack without the DL getting pressure on the QB. Say what you want about Gregory but his quickness forced QBs to get rid of the ball quicker., especially with Parsons coming from the other side.

I will wait and see if Fowler can replace Gregory in that role, but right now I am skeptical.

Gregory I agree with. Collins I do not. Collins struggled most game after he came back.

We have not upgraded anything, we have only lost players and resigned some. This team is no where near better than last year. Gotta love Stephen and the cap.

I can’t recall seeing this many downgrades. We’re going to have to knock one out of the park in the draft to offset the losses.

Unlikely anyone we sign in free agency is going to be better than the players we have which is why we’re signing some of our own players.

My concern isn’t just the lack of positions we have actually upgraded but the number of positions we have downgraded.

Are we more talented on the OL, WR, Safety positions today or are we less talented?

we are clearly less talented and the last time I checked cap space doesn’t open holes for your struggling run game.

Bottom line....

They aren't good enough to make a deep playoff run but the people in charge of building the team THINK they are.

They will fail again and be shocked again.

Scapegoat already in place....as it certainly isn't on them.
Not calling you out for espousing opinion as fact, or maybe I am. You're going to have to show me all of your posts from March 2021 showing you picking the Bengals from the AFC. I'd settle for "the Packers are a one and done team".

Are the Cowboys "good enough"?? Certainly.
Will it happen? Maybe.

As a wise man once said, "That's why they play the games."

I'll wait until FA and draft are over.
But so far the answer is none.

Honestly, at this stage all but maybe 6-7 teams could say the same

Addition by subtraction. T. Steele will be more consistent at RT I believe. McGovern will be better at LG (strong off season). Not as many penalties. Gallup makes our offense better, spreads the D out...Fowler will be more consistant. We still have the draft and still have more FA's to build on.
