Hopefully the mannings are back and i never have to hear joe buck again
Read last night that even if this offer from ESPN didn't come up, 2022 was going to be Joe Buck's last year calling the Word Series anyway.
Why didn't you watch? For me it was the matchups, not the broadcast team, I could turn them off if I had interest in the game.I don't get it. The majority of Monday Night games suck! I may watch only a couple a year! Why the move?
Not necessarily, MNF was built on personalities and people watched them that didn't even care about the NFL, it was the thing to do. People waited for Don to sing "Turn Out the Lights" before turning it off and going to bed.The amount of money that these networks spend on broadcasters is mind boggling.; At the end of the day, it doesn't matter who is calling the game, the important thing is "who is playing the game"..
All about the Benjamins. Amazon and ESPN pay them a lot of money and part of that is playing keep away from Apple, Netflix and the cable/satellite sports competitors. And the NFL has their own cable/sat delivered network. The past couple of years viewer numbers have been down and it has little to do with the lack of good games on MNF. Money has gotten tight with many people and hte4y have chosen to cut cable/dish costs. That being the case having the #1 announcing team isn't going to make people rush out and get cable/dish again. The NFL made a HUGE mistake by giving Thursday Night games to Amazon Prime for just that reason of having to have cable/dish to see the games. Why would the NFL give a contract to a network that requires the fans to purchase something to see the games and have less viewers and take a little less and be on a network that can be seen for free.

I think ESPN thinks this affects the scheduling with the fact they are willing to have the highest paid broadcast team in the game and they went after them.
I won't watch a game because of the broadcast team but I do think they're the best at it so I view that as a plus.
With Brady changing his mind and returning to play, expect the Buccaneers to appear on MNF a couple of times next fall. The teams that were in the conference championships will be scheduled also = Stafford, Burrow, Mahomes, and new starter Trey Lance. Not necessarily, MNF was built on personalities and people watched them that didn't even care about the NFL, it was the thing to do. This entire subject and this thread are totally subjective. Some like one or both and some don't.
With the QB's spread out as they are, and the game being all about them now, there are few matchups that will not draw attention.

ABC lost viewers before they moved it to ESPN and complained that Turner was beating MNF with 18-34 males with wrestling and they could no longer justify the ad rates they could get with their regular programming. If the NFL starts awarding games to all of the services that require the fan to pay extra (for cable or dish) to watch NFL games, the NFL will no longer be the most watched sport in the U.S. Games aired on any of the major networks, FOX,CBS, NBC have many more views than any of the games shown on ESPN. We'll have to wait and see on Amazon Prime but history will show they really can't compete viewer wise with either FOX or NBC for Thursday Night games. Before there was Sunday Night games, MNF was on ABC and that was the biggest game of the week. Then ABC pushed it off onto ESPN and the number of viewers dropped significantly. Then NBC started Sunday Night games and the number of viewers shot through the roof. Now what is the common thread that runs through FOX,CBS,NBC? All the fan needs is a $12.00 antenna that attaches to the back of the TV to watch those games. The NFL has been making another huge mistake for years now. They're more interested in pumping the economies in foreign cities rather that in nion-NFL cit6ies in this country. There are many cities in the U.S. that have college stadiums that could use the pump in their economy. Also it doesn't force players to have to adjust to the time difference of a foreign city. Between the NFL watering down the game itself and it's push for more money no matter at what the cost will ultimately be, the life of the NFL is going to be in question much sooner rather than later.
I think that is the plan because that is the only thing that will save it.Hope they give them some better games.
