Coop is who he is.

The Cowboys moved on for the same reason the Raiders moved on. Being paid $20m for less than 1k yards receiving.

If he balls out in Cleveland, it will be simply because of Deshaun being a way better QB than Dak
Uh huh. Don't let me see cold weather beastin.

Why they didn’t keep Cooper and instead signed an injured Gallup is beyond me. Cooper was the best WR, I like Gallup a lot too if healthy, and Ceedee hasn’t shown much. So it’ll be interesting, I think they’ll draft a WR early and save some money which isn’t that exciting.

A real GM would have gotten way more than a 5th and 6th round pick.

GMs must love getting trade calls from Jerry.
LOL, we couldn't even get that. We swapped. HA HA HA. All the homers justifying the trade and stuff. LOL, what a sham. 65 qbr with amari, 30 qbr with out. How quickly people forget how bad Dak was prior to Amari after they didnt want dez back. ITs not the wr that are the problem its the qb.

The c

I'm convinced it was the missed games due to covid, non-vax, and attending public events unmasked that did Cooper in more than his lack of production for various reasons. Same for Collins, the suspension and ducking the drug tests were held against him as well. Cowboys can move everyone else's money around but Amari's.

The contract was designed so as they could move away after 2 seasons from the beginning. They probably made this decision the day the took Lamb 17th. Big reason why players should think hard before signing for less to stay with the team!

They converted his $20 mill base salary for 2022 into signing bonus and added 2 void years to the 3 yrs remaining, thus allowing them to spread the $20 mill signing bonus over 5 yrs.

The net effect to all of this is that Cooper's 2022 cap hit is now only $5 million. Cowboys could have done the same but nope.

And we are going to be sitting here on June 1st with over $30 million in cap space, LMAO

It was more about dumping a player that pissed a lot of people off last year.

when you have just a better than average QB, top shelf elite receivers are not worth it. better off with a capable, low cost bunch to spread it around.

if that just better than average QB is paid as elite, this team will be salary cap crippled

You need elite wide receivers to make an average qb look good since the qb has accuracy problems.

Exactly............We are going to have over $30 mill in cap space on June 1st, barring a major singing but we all know that aint happening, and Cooper's cap hit this year is $5 million. We could have easily afforded that.
Yeah, they probably got pissed he never got vaccinated for Covid and ended up missing a couple of games over it. Jerry even went on the radio and cried about it.
So shipping him to Clevland for a bag of Doritos was their way of "punishing" him..........................it was never about the cap.
I don't really blame Jerry for that. If I was Jerry and paying Coop as much as he was, I'd expect him to carry the team's colors like everyone else. Coop wasn't going for it, he wanted to carry his own flag and get paid a big pile of money at the same time.

Because Lamb is the #1 WR on this team and I think Gallup has been more clutch late in games, plus he is half the price.

I just hope they don't cheap out at LG and stick with McGovern, need to get the run game going.

Jerry thought Cleveland was the perfect place for Cooper to trade and fail, but that may not be the case now with a new QB in town.
I disagree in that I think Stephen was the one, but agree with everything you’ve said.

also it’s insane how lazy Stephen seems, as it sounds like her jabs the negotiations to some other dude and runs to his daddy when in doubt. There’s a reason no one knows who JP Morgan’s kid is (can’t claim credit for that, heard it somewhere)

Lamb is the #1 now, maybe. I still think Gallup is better. Cedee seems more a product of the things around him, but I certainly hope I’m wrong and he kills it, I just don’t see it.

Amari Cooper is gone because he would slack off during games. Not all the time but often in many games. The Cowboys provided clips as proof enough during the playoff loss to the 49ers. Several clips of Cooper not going 100% or giving full effort for the pay and talent he had in Dallas.

Good riddance.

The very same goes for La'el Collins.

We should be glad this front office is putting their foot down and holding overpaid/underachieving players accountable. Sends the correct message to everyone else on this team. We should be applauding this front office for finally putting an end to the Country Club destructive atmosphere of the past 26 years.

It's funny how Landry and all the other players want to stay and play for the browns now that Desean is there.

It's just like Brady in Tampa.

I wish players were beating down the door to play here. Our guys just wanna get paid lmao

Cooper is a 1000 yard 7 TD a year wr. Hes never gonna be a stud because he has little go up and get a ball skillsets.

20,000,000 a year is alot of Pie as Stephen Jones says lol for a guy thats not dominant against top tier teams outside of our division.

You put Gronk and Chase on the Cowboys and they may have 20 Tds each js

Ya can't judge a wr or te by how well they play against Philly, Washington, and the Giants.

But that's what alot of peeps do

Don't be drinking that NFC Least koolaide

The FO think that they are so smart with dealing with players. They sign these 2nd to 3rd stringers and no top end talent. Yet the have over 30 million over the cap.

Jerry keeps saying they want to win a superbowl but their actions says otherwise.

All I know is they aren't going to replace him with anyone in the draft ofr FA this year. I guess we'll find out how good Lamb is.

I think most teams knew we were getting rid of Cooper's massive contract. There really wasn't a trade market for him.

Why though? I would've either taken decent compensation or restructured like Cleveland did. He's 27, it's not as if you're binding yourself to an over the hill player.

We telegraphed our intentions, did the same with LC. It's flat out stupid.

We didn’t take full advantage of his skills. If he has a big year in Cleveland which is very possible with Deshaun Watson there’s going to be a lot of crying on this board especially if the Cowboys aren’t playing well and our receivers aren’t stepping up. We may be seeing a lot of Amari Cooper highlights next season. We should have found a way to keep him.
What’s new there’s always crying on this board regardless of topic

I expect him to have a big year - provided Watson doesn't get suspended.
Cooper is not unlike any other wide receiver, though his disposition is different.
He wants the ball - early and often. And if his quarterback isn't getting him the ball and the team is losing, whereas Michael Irvin would get in the quarterback's face and say, "Get me the *&$% football," Cooper is going to sulk.
That's what he did in Dallas.
Watson knows he's on thin ice with the fans. He MUST produce. So he's going to feature Cooper.
Meanwhile, let's hope Dak understands who his No. 1 receiver is and gets him the ball, especially if he gets single coverage.
The massage ladies in Cleveland are licking their chops at how much settlement money they think they will get out of Watson, heh.
