We need a big target for the red zone, could he be that guy?
For all of his prolific numbers, Jones' TD production paled in comparison to his catches and yards.
That was by far the biggest bittle pill for Falcons fans to swallow - that the Matt Ryan- to- Julio connection was basically a red-zone flop.
Even during his 6-year Pro Bowl worthy streak (two seasons All-Pro) from 2014-19, this was his TD totals:
6 - 8 - 6 - 3 - 8 - 6. The Matty Ice / Julio duo achieved double-dight TD receptions only once - during Jones' 2nd year in 2012, 10 TDs.

Thanks for the info. I did not realize that.

Brady wants him in Tampa. So, no way to compete against that kind of recruitment.

He’s like Adrian Peterson… a big name, but a bad player at this point in his career. Jones’ athleticism is shot.

I wouldn't blame Matty Ice's red zone meltdowns on Julio. Its been an issue his whole career. In 14 seasons, Matty has only thrown more than 30 TD passes in a season twice.

Julio has had a HOF career in spite of Matty.

I wasn't blaming either player. It was that head-scratching stat tha Falcons fans wrung their hands about game-in, game out, season after season.

All those years with Atlanta - Julio didn't throw the ball to himself.

He's a lot like Andre Johnson from the Texans years ago, washed up at the end and the TDs were lacking his entire career. When he left Houston his career fizzled quick.

Matt Ryan is a lot like Romo and Dak. He piles up a lot of yards between the 20 yard lines, but defenses get tougher inside the 20 and that's what separates good Qbs from great Qbs. If it was just Julio having trouble inside the 20 yard line, you would see other wrs picking up the slack, but we have 14 seasons of Matt Ryan to analyze and its obvious that the guy just wasn't as effective inside the 20.

It's even more noticeable inside the 10.

Was Romo bad in the red zone? I honestly forget. I didn't notice. After Bledsoe, I was just happy he didn't throw picks in the endzone.

if Matt Ryan goes to Indy, I wonder if Jones will take a cheap deal to play with Matt Ryan again
