Good teams do that all the time- rams, bucs, pack….teams that have a competent front office do it all the time. They lose talent and gain more- all within the salary cap.

Look at the rams GM Les Snead. He took two completely different rosters under two different QBs to a SB. And won one. Thinking that losing talent means you are completely screwed doesn’t stop the best GMs. Jerry and son are terrible. They don’t have a plan.
very true, its about evaluating a roster and correctly identifying the talent that fits together to make a run....look at Miami, they had 5 1st round picks the past two years, for all intent and purposes they should have dominated, but only 1 out of 5 worked out and they rebuilt through trades and FA. the right FAs and the right trades.

I get the covid stuff. that's stupid, he should have been fined. but regardless of potential feelings of hurt and disloyalty, he is talented. you are not marrying them. you are using their services to attain a goal. and we could have gotten more out of it. even with the contract, given his contract is in line with some of the other contracts handed out lately. so his contract shouldn't have been an issue (Adams, Hill, Allen, etc.). either he is one of the top so his contract value is justified and any team getting him, would have to pay him similar amount anyway...or if he is not one of the top, we got taken to the cleaners because of the contract we handed out to him.

winning cures all and kiss and make up was in order, but we telegraphed our intention and lost all leverage...I mean look at Seattle, they have Metcalf and they in no direct way have communicated that he might be available for trade, but not really, but the price has to be right....instead of "we are cutting him" so come get him, else you would have to negotiate against other teams....that's stupid
The Jerry way.

Browns had zero problem restructuring his contract. Can't wait to watch another season of Dak padding 4th quarter stats.
The TEN TOE MEDIOCRE SLOTH formally known as Dak Prescot is considered by his peers as an elite FROG GIGGER for his abilities to rack up huge numbers hunting TOADS in the NFL.

I think at the end of the day it’s our fault. We as fanzz as a whole just kept shoveling money towards the cowboys that now there isn’t much that can be done. If we don’t fill that stadium opposing fanzz will. The only thing that can stop the train at this point is a streak of actual Cleveland browns on field seasonal performances, but even then the corporate will keep things afloat for a while.

I understand your point, but I am simply observing what is/has been happened this off season.

I think there is a bit of a reset with the team by not just letting talent go, but talent that was not meshing with the team for whatever reason.

And second restructuring a few contracts with players who have performed and to not break the bank. Notice that the Zeke contract is not part of that.

And third Jerry is not going to over pay in FA at least not this year. I have to agree to some extent with the off season moves as I don’t believe this team is ready to compete for a SB this year.

Now I am not analyzing what happened 26 year ago or 5 years ago, just this off season.

I hear you. Those are good points. It’s just hard for me not to see the context of the Jones boys doing this gig over and over “their way” and somehow expecting different results.

For sure, their plan changes every so many years. It would be great if they had a true GM, but they don’t and so their plan is trial by error in my opinion.

Or maybe, did they show their hand so obviously on their distain for Cooper that the entire NFL knew for weeks he was about to be cut ... leaving him to be traded for nothing?

Yes.

The Cowboys are constantly have to cut players who still have value because they 1) overpay their own players, puttiing themselves in a corner where they have to move on and 2) are the only GM and VP of Player Personnel that feel the need to share their every, simple-minded strategies with any and all microphones that comes in thier path.

Collins is another example. They got pennies for a #1 WR, who may not be in the upper echelon of Davante Adams and Tyreek Hill, but he is certainly worth more than a 5th and slight move up in the 6th.

Jerry is running out of time for a Boys SB run and he knows the current team isn’t going anywhere this year.

Boys will make a run next year. This year is all about drafting to fix the holes on the team such as oline and about cap conservation by not over reaching.
User name fits. Unfortunately I don’t think you’ll need to change it but I hope I’m wrong!
