If it weren't for Jimmy this franchise has no rings under Jerrys ownership. It's already been proven. I'm not so sure Jimmy hasn't told Jerry to stick that ROH where the sun don't shine.
Jerry hired Jimmy......so, you are wrong.

Yup, and let's not forget about head coach Barry Switzer who dang near had the Cowboys win back to back Super Bowls as well. Man those were good times!

yep, back when the rules were different. Hey, how many super bowls did Parcells win with a salary cap?
He went 10-6 with Quincy Carter at QB.

How deep into the playoffs did SF and the Titans go here recently? Did they go deeper than Dallas?

Got it now......you also prefer under-paid players. Are you reading Parsons?
I don't "prefer" under-paid players.

I prefer paying players based on their talents. I'd love for the Cowboys to be paying Mahomes, Allen, or Rodgers right now because they're worth it. Dak's talent is not in the same universe as those guys, but his contract is. That is my issue and that should be an issue for all Cowboys fans.

true, but still yet, Jimmy is the only one who built a championship team and won two superbowls, while the same core of players and coaches except Switzer who was just a figure head won a 3rd superbowl. after that Jerry, on his own, without Jimmy's boys has been abysmal. absolute horror. Jerry hired Jimmy. Jerry should have Kept Jimmy. Jerry was stupid to let Jimmy go.

Switzer was a figure head only. a cheer leader. the coaching staff was pretty much the same coaching staff under Jimmy, most of the same starters and players and switzer managed to screw up the game in SF, where we should have won that game since we were the better team. Aikman and the rest stopped listening to switzer and took it upon themselves the next year and took switzer for a ride.

subsequently, 1994, 1995 we had some of the worst drafts ever. outside of Allen, we didn't draft any significant contributor for years after jimmy left and it fell apart.

Jerry has been abysmal and horrible without Jimmy. JImmy made Jerry.

that was a masterful coaching by Parcells that year. he admited after that, because of the 10-6 record he saw fools gold and got caught up, where he should have tore it apart earlire....which he did after the 6-10 season

This is what you said and you’re wrong.
exactly correct. its TEAM THINKING THEY CAN JUST REPLACE A WR AND THE QB WILL JUST GO HO HUM....and things as usual. there is no denying that Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes maximize the talent around them. Brady for years used two undersized WRs who have no chance at HOF into multiple superbowls, subsequently and prior neither could do much. Rodgers has made many WRs looking great, some of whom moved on and didn't amount to much. so yeah, some QBs make players around them better. very few though.

All is true. What’s also true is Jethro hired Jimmy.

Not many here have blamed our dysfunctional ownership anymore for this era since the 90’s dynasty which Jimmy built than me as he’s at the forefront of my criticism as he’s the constant throughout this era .

And as we hold him responsible for what’s happened since Jimmy we must also give credit for Jethro bringing in Jimmy. It’s best decision the SOB ever made. It’s been down hill since Jimmys departure.

Here is a good article explaining what happens when you give the qb big bucks. We all already know this, so why is everyone so surprised? A couple of things are garbage in the article as it applies to Dallas, but the fallout from Rodgers and mahomes deals is evident.

You're buying into the front office's line of BS.
The truth is that we lack professional football people in our front office.
They take things very personally and do not act professionally. They are very old school in that way.
I don't love Dak, nor do I hate him. Is he overpaid? Absolutely. But that is not keeping the team from keeping it's players.
Dak does not take up 40 mil in cap space. His number this year is 19.73, not 40. That is how much of our 208 cap he takes up.
Look at the Rams. They have pros running the team. They understand that the cap, while technically a hard cap, is also fluid.
Do you realize that Cooper is costing the Cowboys 6 mil in cap space this year, and costing the Browns just 4.9?
That is poor asset management. Not just poor, atrocious.
If you had an issue with Cooper and want to move him, be it his motivation or the vaccine thing or whatever, you build his value, then trade him for an asset. You don't bad mouth him and announce if we can't trade him we will cut him. We could have easily restructered him and kept him for about what he is costing us to play for the Browns this season.
They acted personally, not professionally. Same with Collins, and even the Gregory thing would not happen to a professionally managed team.
In the immortal words of Bob Sugar, "It aint show friends, it's show business".
The Cap is set to explode in the coming years. Teams spending this year are smart, as they will lock in players at today's pricing.
The Cap has been limited by Covid the last 2 years, but that is coming to an end.
The NFL signed HUGE new TV deals. Projections are the Cap could increase 40 mil just next season, and hit 308 by 2026.
Coopers 20 mil per year looked bad last year for sure. But the WR market has already been reset. Adams, Hill and Godwin far surpassed Coops number, and that trend will continue in the coming years as the Cap explodes. Get ready to see average WRs get 20+, and Coop is much better than average.
Our owners are set in the past. They don't understand how to run a modern sports franchise.
The sad truth is the most valuable franchise is professional sports is managed by the keystone cops.

If the headline is true, soon there will be no top players. Every team is going to pay a handsome price for the trigger man.

Would KC be smarter to let Mahomes walk or GB to let Rodgers walk? BUF, KC and GB pay their QB's more and have better teams than the Cowboys. And GB and KC will still have better teams after trading Adams and Hill. Can we say the same about the Cowboys? And why is that?

Great question !!

And probably not one answer. Probably several contributing factors.

One is our leadership and culture . Which spurs so many facets of our football organization with priorities often out of whack.

And possibly our expensive QB isn’t as great as some of those others in Buff, KC and GB. Not to mention several of our top 5 paid players .

If our top paid talents are underperforming or not as talented as we are paying them , then that’s a problem .

It’s just difficult to measure because of problem number #1 which often throws everything else into turmoil with culture which includes meddling of coaching, etc.

Ok.....then I would surmise it's "Cowboy market value" vs "League market value". Got it. And Jerry is doing such.

Why is that? He didn't like Dallas, he's a seafaring man. And he didn't like working for Booger after that draft fiasco when Wannstedt had to talk him into coming to the war room. And he made more money working for other people because Booger does not respect coaching.
