Cant really blame them for being mercenary. The team he bled for and led for years just dumped him.

Also the team that compensated him very well for a long time.

Teams are business oriented and have no problem doing what’s in their best interest. Players should have that right as well.

They certainly should.

Somebody will pay him what he is asking for as soon as a starter gets hurt in training camp.

Nope. His demands will come down to what the league is willing to pay him. Or he could choose to retire, the choice is his.

We will see. Should be interesting to watch who blinks first. It’s clear the Rams and Ravens like him and want him…. When multiple teams see value and want your services— the bidding war generally favors the player.

It would show restraint by both teams if neither party increases their offer to win his contract. Could happen. But my money is on Wagner coaxing out a nice last deal for himself that covers his last 2-3 years in the league

I think that may work for done but a lot of them ultimately regret it. There are about to be several hundred new players added to the league, and teams filling the positions they play.

It’s not good to be without a seat when the music stops. Few players get to retire on their terms. Most are retired by the league first.
Which is why I would be a total mercenary.

Parcells was a mercenary. Ready to leave and Booger offered him an extra 1M to stay.

The entire NFL from coaches on down is mercenary.

I saw Quinn get some love for staying with the Cowboys. Why do they think that was? Loyalty to a one year job? What he wanted was not there yet and letting Wilson and Wagner go might just open that up for him this next year.

CAR capitalized on the mercenary part of Matt Rhule when they made that offer, which they now regret. Snyder paid Spurrier 5M a year for a rookie NFL HC.

Not everyone can afford to be mercenary but those that can, do. Bur for mercenary poster children, nothing tops MLB. I hate that game because of them.

Keep in mind that he left Los Angeles, supposedly his #1 destination. They have everything a player could want, and they clearly want him. He left because they wouldn’t meet his money demands.

Sure. But for nowhere near the $18 million a year he was making.

Sometimes the Cowboys patience pays off, often it does not.

But if this drags on a few more days maybe into late in the week, maybe Wagner can be signed on a one year type deal with us having an edge with Quinn as the DC.

I think Wagner would be a prime signing for us. He handles the middle, allows you to play Parsons even more at OLB/DE. If Cox is as good as people say he could be in coverage, then you might have something at LB with Wagner in the middle, Cox playing SAM and then you have Parsons as your chess piece to move all over the place.

Wagner would be perfect for this defense because he frees up Parsons. Wagner wants cash that Cap Boy does not want to give up. Signing him would have been way better then bringing back Gregory.

Miller's deal was reasonable?

Have Jock; Will Travel.

It's really not terrible when you look at it as a 3 year deal. Which is what it will be. But they definitely overpaid for a name. I say he has 1 more decent year in him.

Wagner is still out there because he's asking for way too much cash and teams are refusing to pay it. It'd be great it his price comes down and we're able to slide into his range once he realizes he's not going to get what he's asking for. Wagner, LVE, Parsons and Cox would be a good enough LB corp to win most games.
