Stephen: Steele can be a really high caliber RT for us

I wonder who buys this BS from the Joneses. Sure Steele can be a really good RT for Dallas. He can also be a really bad RT too. The point is, they cut Collins before finding out. Sure, they get a $10 million CAP save - in June.

Why can't they just say they felt it was time to move on from Collins and they wish him luck. They are always trying to sell us the poop sandwich.

Those slobbering over Steele are going to eat large amounts of crow this season. He is going to show the reason why no one else wanted him.

Nobody wanted Collins either…

Some seem to be overly fond of the word "slobbering".
I'm with ya roc, it wasn't our choice, it was theirs. But Steele did look better last year than he did before, and I think most of us are just hoping for the best. I thought he did a decent job last year, I'm willing to give the guy his shot. Half the time we didn't have Collins anyway, he was always out for something or other.
I think the bigger issue now is who is going to be the swing tackle?

Since when has Fat Stevie Jones became an expert evaluation of football talent? Perhaps Steele will improve and get better. But he is a veteran and at the point where players improve very little. He is most likely trying to "hold his own" talent wise. The reason I tend to be skeptical about Steele is because I know that when he, Collins and T Smith were all active and healthy on game day Steele sat on the bench. I strongly suspect he is not as good as T Smith or Collins.

Agree with you on the timing (even if Steele is the value at RT), after the draft we may have been in a better position to get something back in a trade.

What I hope is that they didn't cut him out of spite due to his agent.

Can't link it but he said it.

“We had a decision to go with somebody who fit better for us under the cap and a younger player,” Jones said. “We just had to make a difficult business decision. ...I think [Steele] is only going to get better and can be a really high-caliber starter at right tackle for us compared to any of the tackles in this league.”

And LG is where he should've been anyway.
Other teams clearly disagreed and one of them who had just been in the SB signed him to play RT. So that makes your claim look rather bad.

Steele will be ok. Cheap and average maybe above average at times and that is exactly what Stephen wants.

I strongly suspect you're right. He went undrafted for a reason. He's not as good as Collins. Even though he's only 24, I think we've seen his ceiling. I hope he proves me wrong.

Even with all the above issues….you have to admit it’s not the Cowboys MO to give up on guys in the prime of their career. They are more so known for hanging on too long….
exactly and most hated that now they do it and everyone's angry,,people change they saw the opportunity and are trying a different approach's say kudos.,...
unless we finish 8-9 and moss the playoffs than ill be upset by right now im cool with all these moves.

That small glimmer of hope slowly fades that when Jerry passes his selected successor would improve the team. I think we get much much worse under Stephan.

"Terence Steele can be a really high caliber RT!" - Director of Player Personnel for an NFL team

It's such a joke.
So he cut his sacks given up in a game from 3 to 1.....= really good right tackle ....is Stephen Jones opinion.

Oh boy.....

And we thought the last 26 years were rough...

How did Parcells make a mistake?

Do you believe that Romo didn't benefit from staying on the bench his first three seasons while learning under Parcells and Payton? Romo was a preseason star in the games when he was playing against mostly 3red teamers and camp bodies. Romo needed those years to develop. He needed an offense built to succeed. he needed to be taught how to be an NFL quarterback and he needed Parcell's "Quarterback Commandments".

He needed that. Until year 4.

Bledsoe over Romo to start the season was wrong.
