What am I not seeing with Zuerlein?

Why was Jerry, McCarthy, and you know Bones wanting him bad so badly?

I had read he was injured last year so maybe they thought a healthy guy was great. I honestly think it’s better for everyone to get fresh starts

But just think how confused offenses would be if you moved him around and dropped him into coverage!

We're over thinking this. I was all for Micah's versatility until he showed elite pass rush skills. Now that should be his full time job. It just matters more than anything else he can do on defense.
I agree 100%.

Even as a FT DE they still can move Micah around, having him in zone or man coverage half time isnt the most effective use of him.........go find a LB that will do that.

The team cut Zuerlein. They didn’t want him that bad. Sounds like MM can’t evaluate kickers at all. Not surprising as he can’t evaluate QB’s either and that’s his specialty.

in spite of this past “non real” off-season, Dakota played well through the first 7 games so I’m not sure how having a “real” off-season this year is going to change the slump Rayne went through in most of the games after the Broncos punched him in the mouf last year.

They are a devil you know is better than the devil you don't know bunch. We did the same with Bailey when he went downhill, Chris Jones, even McBriar. Bailey bounced back briefly and that's the ideal that they are looking at. I say if a kicker has had major surgery, especially two back surgeries, you need to be finding their replacement because it's doubtful they will ever be the same. Kicking is such a precision position that it doesn't take much to throw a player off. We should have at least begun the effort to find a suitable replacement for Zuerlein last year. Maybe we wouldn't have accomplished it, but we made no effort so we're stuck this year beginning the process.

I think the question is whether those first seven games show who he can be or how he played after the ankle injury does. I believe the injury affected his play, and I think that's a reasonable assumption. Hopefully, a real offseason will allow him to reestablish himself and avoid problems like the arm fatigue issue he had in the preseason.

I am wondering the same thing. It makes no sense. Cowboys lost games because of his inability to nail chip shots.
Which makes inability to cash in during red-zone appearances a problem too. Is that being addressed?

hopefully what you described is true. Getting a better Rayne then last year is going to be key in making up for some of the deficits we’ve experienced this off-season. I still can’t figure out if we are in a rebuild, partial rebuild or just a holding pattern this season

McCarthey has to go to the playoffs at least to return next year. don't see how he survives if we miss the playoffs or lost badly the first game. How can jerry sell the next season to the already unhappy fanbase. Given what we have seen , this could be MM last season .

Maybe in a years time they might consider Parsons is best full-time, as an edge rusher. We will just waste another year waiting.
Name a linebacker that make 25 million a year. If they move Parsons to DE full time he can ask for DE money. At LB his cap hit would be lower.

Same way he sells them every season. They line up to be fleeced.

Yeah I don't buy the you're helping me if we know where he'll line up excuse. Everybody knew where Reggie White lined up and it didn't help anybody except his own teammates.

Elite pass rushers need to pass rush. Period.
Yep , remember LT?
