Why would Sean Payton want to come here?

12 and 5 with a team that barely lost to the Rams. Instead of building on it, we let 5+ starters walk and replaced them with bargain bin players. I'd love to know how we got better.
Team wasn’t competitive for one. Basically lost to every good team they played. Secondly, they are marginally worse than they were last year. Definitely didn’t dismantle the team from last season. Again, a team that wasn’t a winner competitive vs the best teams anyways.

I know the Jones boys are banking on Payton coming here, but after seeing how the FO just completely dismantled a competitive team for NO reason and essentially turning McCarthy into a lame duck coach, why would Sean Payton want to come here and be part of an FO that has no idea what it is doing? We may even lose out on Dan Quinn who see how McCarthy got done and will decide to coach elsewhere.
He lives in Dallas, wants to be close to his kids, make a lot of money, friends with the Jones family....Any other reasons needed?

Have you people not quite yet gotten that it's all about money?

A Gruden type deal gets Payton here when Jerry has nothing left to sell.

If it was all about money then Payton would still be coaching the saints until the duration of his contract instead of sitting out and missing out on money. Guys like Payton want respect to do things their way and they want to win, which are things hard to find in Dallas

He won't win anything soon in NO with the current roster. He can go do TV for almost the same amount and golf Monday through Thursday.

It would be stupid to sent two or three 1st rd picks to the saints for him. I mean, he would be working under the same front office that hasn’t had any real success since JJ.

LOL!!! I wouldn't send them crap, let alone multiple first round picks. Not for a coach. What's so special about him? Send them a 7th and a six pack of Schaefer beer.

Sean Payton MUST Insist on making personnel decisions , otherwise he should not go to the cowboys as he will fail as others have . There is no secret here . Jerry’s meddling and personnel decisions have eroded this team for 26 years .

I hadn’t heard Schaefer in a long time . Funny

When I used to go to NYC a lot back in the 80’s and 90’s that was a premium beer. But in Texas it was cheap beer.

Because the money they're saving will set an NFL record for his pay next season!!

You're right....but I'm talking about something different. I'm thinking Jerry wants Payton here when he is told by the kids, or father time, to take more of a backseat.

No Jerry and a Gruden contract, Payton is the HC here.

LOL it's garbage! Up here in NY/NJ they used to have all of the crap/cheap beer on tap at every bar. Schaefer, Pabst, Rheingold, Schmidt's, Lite beer from Miller, and maybe Ballantine Ale. All garbage! All that stuff tasted awful.

I'm not sure it was around on tap in the 90s. That's when I became old enough to drink, and I don't remember any of them except Lite beer from Miller.

McCarthy Super Bowl wins with a future Hall of Famer at QB....one.

Payton Super Bowl wins with a future Hall of Famer at QB.....one.

I'd rather bring in some one from the Belichick caching tree. Instead of a proven failure.

Payton wants to be a real head coach with full control of the roster and the locker room….you know like real NFL coaches want.

Whatever anyone thinks of SP and JJ’s relationship, I can’t see any top notch HC coming here without major structural changes and concessions put in the contract. Anyone think Jerry would do that?

Cowboys are a dead end job for head coaches . It’s a graveyard.
Jerry has hired 8 head coaches in his 33 seasons as owner. Only two of them ever got another NFL HC gig.

The last former Cowboys head coach who was ever hired again as an NFL HC was Chan Gailey who went 16-32 in Buffalo. Before that it was Jimmy. That’s it. Six others never served as an NFL HC again.
