I always like you as a poster. Funny and insightful. You have a thing with Dak though. He is a product of the comp scheme in the NFL. Already his contract looks better compared to Watson’s. That guy didn’t even play last year and will miss the first few games this coming season. That guy and his comp is a product of what’s going on in the league right now. Dak too. Dak is a very good player. In a couple seasons you will like his contract more. Mark my words.

Deshaun Watson has the 2nd highest career passer rating of all time.

If you're going to say Dak was a top 5 QB last year because of passer rating then you also are required to believe Deshaun Watson is the 2nd best QB of all time based on this same exact metric.

So, I'll ask again for everyone to see. Do you believe Deshaun Watson is the 2nd best QB of all time or are you going to admit that you're using passer rating to fit a narrative?

I understand the whole "that's how the QB market works" junk. I get it. We all do. But Dak Prescott's abilities and talents are not in that market and I'd much preferred another team pay for it instead of us.

We should be upset that we're paying players top money right now that's abilities aren't in the same universe as their contracts. That 100% includes Dak Prescott.

In a couple seasons Dak's cap hit will be 52 million according to Over The Cap.

I promise you me, you, and everybody else is going to like that.

Also, as long as Dak is making top 10 QB money I will never like it because I don't believe Dak is a top 10 QB.

It's all about being a starting NFL QB. As one NFL owner recently said, you gotta have a legit starting QB you can consistently win with. If you don't, you have NO CHANCE. It has little to do with whether or not they can get you a Super Bowl but about giving you a shot at winning your division.

Bottom line....every team with a home drafted QB have 5 years to decide if he's their guy. If he is, he gets paid. If they can't or are not sure, then they tag him as the Commanders did with Cousin. But notice the Browns with Mayfield or Bucs with Winston or Jets with Donald. The league has pretty much said these QBs so far, aren't worthy of a long-term market value deal.

Yet we have fans/posters suggesting Dak's overpaid coz he isn't talented enough........silly

Right now? Nobody. They're all gone. We're stuck with Dak because of his contract anyways.

My suggestion is the same today as it was months ago. We use the rest of Dak's contract to build a solid foundation. We make ZERO win now type of moves. There is no "win now" move when Dak is your QB. The only player that should be on a big contract in 3 season is Parsons. Diggs and CeeDee still have more to prove.

We use the next 3 years build a solid O-line and run game. We also continue to build on the defense. When Dak's contract is finally up we go for a real QB either by trade or FA. I believe that we should also look to the draft next year for a QB in the first round as a back up. That would give that 1st round talent a year or 2 to learn and be ready. The last time the Cowboys took a QB in the 1st round it started a dynasty. They haven't done it since.

Here's the thing with these arguments online...

The question should be weighted more heavily...

It should be something along the lines of "Which Quarterback do you suggest we go get instead of Dak? With the implication being you lose your f'ing job if you make the wrong decision. No more company plane...no more million a year job...no more perks from being a key decision maker for a Billionaire."

Something along those lines.

These Real GM's have to be conservative most of the time. No one wants to factor that into why a GM did this or that. They dont want to lose their plush job.
