Morning Pops and all y'all.

Wanna feel old? Well, do ya? Try having this day as your son's birthday and he's 50!!! Think about that! I know, I know, I am 74 and shouldn't be like this but he is freakin' 50!!!!!!!! My bundle of joy bouncing baby boy (who spit up on me when I bounced him because I ignored my wife's instructions) is 50 years old and I feel older than I ever have in my life.

50 years ago, in less than 5 hours, my wife who's usual weight was 115, gave birth to a 10lb 8oz 23.75" long baby boy after 12 long hours in labor. New definition of labor right there. When people would come to the viewing window where all of the newborn's are sequestered, I was a celebrity of sorts. All out of sorts as I was worn out for worrying. One woman walked up to the window and said to her husband "I just love looking at the babies, they are so cute and fragile, Oh My God!!! Look at the size of that baby's hands, they put a toddler in there".

I am very appreciative on this day because just two days ago my favorite drummer and rock personality passed away, Taylor Hawkins, ....at 50. That age was not lost on me as this day approached. It put into perspective just how precious life is, especially those lives in our life. He has been such great support to me as I make an unplanned journey through this life.

Take nothing for granted, my friends today is already a better day than we thought it might be. I mentioned I am feeling older than I ever have but how's this for a ray of sunshine? I am coming up, in a little over a week, upon my prognosed death day of 6 months and I am still holding strong and where I was a little over 5 months ago, emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually seems like ages ago. Just when I was beginning to think I knew, I found out I knew nothing.

Life is a gift. My wife and I were given one 50 years ago today that would amaze, amuse, frustrate, humble, inspire, motivate and worry the hell out of us. Everything that life is about.

Happy Birthday to Joshua, the son I wish my father had been more like.

Happy birthday, CouchJosh!

Don't feel old, CC. I'm almost 58, so I'm older than your son. There, don't you feel better now?...You do???...Why? Never mind, just glad I could help.

Good morning Pops and Friends,

Been a while since I posted here and have been doing a lot of catch-up reading.

We're entering faux Spring with daytime temperatures reaching the low 60's. The nighttime temperatures still hover around freezing. I say "faux" because with absolutely no snow on the long-term weather forecast, I removed the snow blade from the Polaris... which means in a few weeks, we'll probably get a couple of feet of snow.

Our family in Russia and Ukraine are still safe although things are getting dire. My wife speaks to her sister in Russia on a daily basis and is glued to the newscast much like Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter, "Deathly Hallows" movie.

We're headed to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks near Moab, Utah in mid- to late-April for a hike-till-you-drop vacation. Love that area.

Oh, with the early spring (early for us), the bears are coming out of hibernation. I installed a few game cams which I hope to post a few photos here.

The bears posted their own photos with a pic of you putting up cams with the heading "Menu".

Dead bodies are okay. I killed Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore, and not in a dream either! I'm writing a prohibition era crime novel and the main character was sent to retrieve one of Bugs Moran's truck load of liquor and kill the hijackers. I named them Mike McCarthy and Kellen Moore. Ha!

Yes, I'm still frustrated by the playoff loss.
Add Dak for screwing up when it really matters. Throw in JJ, JJJ, JG, refs and RG for good measure. We're all frustrated by the end of our season. I don't want to talk about it!

The book sounds quite captivating though.

Coachadoodles, we're so happy the doctors lied to you. It was extremely upsetting, but get down with your rare self! As Rod Stewart sang "Stay with us".

It's sad to hear about your favorite drummer. RIP Taylor Hawkins and comfort to those that love him.

Also a great big Happy Birthday, Joshua! Shame on you for making your daddy feel old. However, we're glad he's here to feel old and try to make us feel old in the process. It worked a little, but don't tell him.

We're so glad to hear from you Montanalo!!!!! That means you haven't been converted into a Montana Happy Meal.

Good news on your family in Russia and Ukraine. I hope it stays that way.

I hope y'all enjoy the trek across Utah. The flowers should be putting on a show to enjoy. Be safe out there!

Morning, Pops and everyone. I'm glad you're doing well, Coach. And happy birthday to Joshua. My Sara turned 50 last August so I know exactly how you feel.

Afternoon Pops and Popsadoodles. I'm trying to lead a boring life, but I can't rest as long as I'm awake... literally. I find more stuff to get into than I should. I ordered about 30 plants and am cussing myself for doing it. I really like the plants but absolutely hate going outside. There's bugs that sting and summer temperatures smirking at me through the spring air. I love spring most of all. It's the happy medium between hot and cold with the promise of (to borrow a phrase from Chasing Cars) gardens bursting into life. Ah spring! Welcome back.

So, here I am baby sitting all these plants and running out of containers to put them in because I'm danged sure not ready to get the shovel and start planting. I don't know why I do this every year. Maybe I'm buying presents for spring. It's a thought. I have 18 butterfly bushes, 6 daisies, 4 indoor plants (common sense kicked in for a moment) and I'm not sure what else. Now for the hard part, to kick my own butt outside with a shovel and strong intent to get these plants in the ground.

That's not enough. I'm forcing myself to clean out my closets without losing my mind. The last time I went on a bender with clothes, I literally had nothing to wear once it turned cold. I have to stop myself from going over board and doing that again. Balance isn't easy when you are up to your eye balls in another one of your messes. Once that's done, maybe I'll finish painting my bathroom. Yes, it's THAT one. There's a long story behind the delay, but things are getting better.

I went on line and bought a sofa plus a monstrously huge rug that I've wanted for a long time. Family is looking at me funny over purchasing something I've never sat on. I researched it and thought about it for months until I told myself that my old couch isn't getting any better. I've been all over Shreveport (good cops) and Bossier (better cops) looking and trying out couches. If I loved the way it felt, it was unsightly. If I didn't like the way it felt, it matched my decor. I'll let y'all know about my Amazon sofa. It doubled in cost after I purchased it. I didn't know why that one was half the price of the others, but I love a sale.

I made my third brick in my bread machine. It was apple and toasted pecan bread. I thought it tasted a whole lot better than the other two. The recipe called for sugar.

Ok, time to attack another project. What I really want to do is take a nap, but that wasn't the project I had in mind. Wish me luck!

Not just good luck, but the very best of luck is what I wish you...and I suggest you buy a backhoe....or a teenager.

Tuesday morning job site: 34th and 3rd Ave in Manhattan. They be some crazy azz peoples round here! People alternating between screaming at themselves and screaming at other people, for no apparent reason. One woman stopped next to my truck to talk, babble, and yell at herself, the guys unloading my truck, some guy walking his poodle, etc. Then she changed her shirt right there on the sidewalk and went inside the port-a-john, which I was forced to use earlier, and believe me when I tell you, is for emergencies only...She may be the reason why. I find it hard to believe that human beings...ADULT HUMAN BEINGS... would do the things I saw. The crapper I was forced to use was my second choice, because the first one...well, some of you may be eating, so use your imagination if you want to, or keep your appetite.

You'll be pleased to know I officially requested a user name change to "Montanalo". I was actually hoping for "This is the Way", however, some dude named Mandolarian took exception.
