Burks, Green, Zion I think are the team's targets at 24

Long before the Combine, they watched him carry their alma mater to it's best record in years and you can bet they've had conversations with the HC about him as they did about Yosemite..

Funny about these draft reports is how often they're wrong both ways.

The rap on Yosemite was his getting to the 2nd level, which he never had problems with in the NFL. He did not have to get to the second level at WIS because of their run game strategy, hit the hole and go.

Burks had a poor showing at the Combine and I thought that could drop him into that 24 range but I have seen some bringing him back up the board.

I do not want a WR with that 1st but if that's going to happen, I want him. He is a load to tackle but he needs to work on his concentration because dropping anything with those 10" hands is ridiculous.

There is something else about him, that Emmitt quality. Unless he's in a cast, he's playing and doing everything he can for his team. He knew that his QB and he were the only chance for a win and he played with some kind of nagging injury throughout the season and would get a new one, go to the sideline and be back in the game. He became the broadcast guys doing the games favorite player because we do not see enough of that, just tough as hell with no quit.
They want dogs, he seems to fit that mold.

Isn't that what we lack with departed Connor and Biaz? I agree, Linderbaum's physical traits bother me, but he is excellent on tape against top competition playing in the Big Ten. I want a power Guard who can move people in the run game and have a strong anchor so Dak has a pocket to work with.

Im coming around on Linderbaum just want to know we’re going to be pull blocking like crazy in the run game as that’s his biggest strength.

Yeah, he also is excellent in getting to the 2nd level. We will be running the zbs again, but what happens if they change the coaching staff if MM fails to meet expectations after this season?

Burks would be an excellent pick

“Burks isnt the type of receiver Dak excels with”….Dumb statement

You shouldnt want 3 of the same type of receivers on this team. Burks would help this anemic passing offense inside the RZ and is the type of player that shows up in the biggest games, unlike the overrated $20m a year guy that was here the last 3 seasons

Yall will say “another WR with a first rounder…yuck”, but clamor for a guard

Cowboys have been connected with Treylon Burks since the combine. He offers a very unique skillset, where whoever drafts him, must have a plan how to use him. I like the player, but hate the idea of drafting another 1st receiver in a deep class. However, don't think they pass him if on the board as he should be their highest rated player at a position of need. Believe he is the only top receiver who has a chance to be there at 24.

Odds on favorites would be either top Guard: Green or Zion Johnson, unless a player who they didn't expect falls into their laps like a top 5 Edge or a top Tackle. Tony Pauline said yesterday he is hearing that all the tackles will be scooped up early on and Tyler Smith is going to go much higher then many are projecting. I haven't found anything connecting the Cowboys to Smith.

What about Linderbaum? You have to believe he would be the best player on their board over these 3. Are they looking to replace Biaz or looking to give him legitimate competition at the position? Think Left Guard is the bigger need, but it would be interesting to see who they take if both Guards are also on the board.

Based on an interview with S.Jones, I'm certain it will be:
OL, WR, Defensive Front (DT, DT, LB).

It's probably not LB unless they really love the player over all others that are available.
- Devin Lloyd: If he is available at #24, then there is an issue that we (fans) don't know about.
- Nakobe Dean: I don't see them bypassing an OL or WR to draft a 5-11 LB, especially considering they have two LBs with elite coverage ability (Parsons and Jabril Cox).

I don't think they'll force a pick at OG unless they think that player is a legit option at OC or OT.

I think they likely have about 18 players rated as true 1st rounders.
- If a DL, OT or WR from that top group falls to #24, then that's the pick.

I'm not certain that they would draft Linderbaum.
- They've had issues with C. Williams and Biadasz lacking power.

If Trevor Penning is available, I can't see them bypassing him.

remember what they said when some of us wanted georgia ot/og isaiah wynn..."another olineman in the 1st Rd...how many do we need.
no other team has that many 1st rounders on their oline.."
blah blah blah.
now they are saying that about WR and want a OG.
as long as he's the best player on the board...WHO THE HELL CARES if he plays WR...OG...DE.

It would be a wasted pick if they draft a WR that is similar to Dez. Dak will not throw the back shoulder throws or the jump ball throws. Romo trusted Dez to make plays , but a WR has to have a lot of separation for Dak to throw him the ball. Dak doesn’t trust WRs to make those type of catches and he doesn’t trust his own accuracy enough to throw to WRs that are covered.

Let's draw the line at the top 18 players on the Cowboys board and which ones might fall to #18?

  • Most analysts have these as top 20 picks.
    • Trevor Penning
    • Devin Lloyd
    • Chris Olave
  • More analysts than not have these players in the top 20 now.
    • George Karlaftis
    • Devonte Wyatt
    • Zion Johnson

DT Wyatt is interesting. The opinions are widely varied; however, more and more analysts have been moving him up to their top 20.

LB Lloyd would be hard to bypass at #24.

Wyatt isn’t that long athlete that Quinn covers. Yes, Lloyd could be a fallback option

They’ll take Green if he’s there. He’s been the obvious pick since day one. We have no starting left guard right now.

If we sign a guard in free agency, then I’ll change my mind.

I think Zion or Green would be disappointed with a WR at #24 dumb choice. We need OL often and several 3rd round on I would be looking WR not at #24 or #56

Burks is Deebo with speed. Needs 2 work on his routes.
...Burks 4.55 40 @ the combine is scorching.

I have my doubts he gets separation @ the next level...will end up being a role player...and moving to TE.
