Last year leading up to the draft their was quite the debate on if we should draft Pitts if he slid to us at # 10.
Thankfully the Falcons took him and removed the temptation from Jerry.

Both players are generational talents and had outstanding rookie seasons.

Does anyone rue that we missed out on Pitts?

I don't, because defense was a much greater need than offense for last years team.

Thoughts ?
UMm no because we got MP at 12 with a third ie a trade down he got picked where um no way

MPO transformed our defense and a TE doesnt really Transform much i mean he got his QB shipped off lol good luck with that..

MP and a huge gap for who got a better deal..

Parcells was asked that in a pc and while he didn't just come out and say it, anytime Ware was out the other team rolled. They had a coach on Ware watch.

The problem with Ware and Ratliff was they were gassed by the 4Q as they were both high motor guys. Johnson had the luxury of resting his DL and OL for the 4Q so that they'd be fresh.

The other thing is that the NFL was far more balanced run to pass when Ware played so fighting off OL in the run game takes a lot out of DL, which is why they try and keep them off the LB's.
I always think less of people who dog on Ware. It's blatantly obvious that they just don't get it.

Ware is a top 5 all time pass rusher. He was that good. An d he did it w/ very little help and w/o the benefit of good DT's and w/o a NT. No pass rusher in the history of the NFL has come close to doing what he did w/ very little around him. He mostly carried that D.

Don't know why he did, but I will take it!
And the 3rd round pick as a bonus lol!!!
Cuz he sat out the year in college. It was just so dumb, though, as OHST had cancelled the season so he took money. Then they reinstated. Not his fault at all, and it was obvious to anyone w/ sense that he was going to be a stud. The two CBs taken over him were not near as good of prospects and made no sense at all. I still want to hug the decision makers at CAR and DEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just knew that when DEN came up they'd take him!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the explanation.
Glad he is a Cowboy and that our front office took him.
Good times!!!

After rookie yr it's Parson hands down.
Ask me again in a few years.

I remember Roy Williams and LVE in their first year.... but then......

Pitts is what we thought he was.
He was used less than a 1/3 of the time in a tight formation, a little over 1/3 as a slot and about 1/3 out wide.
He was a featured weapon they moved around targeted mismatches towards.
But ATL probably needs a true TE1 to make this work long term.

Micah was the dreaded off ball LB 99% of us feared... then he showed up and played all over and simply dominated everywhere.
He wanted to go every snap. He has zero off days and had zero quit in him.
He was everything we could have dreamed.

If they did a draft re-do Parsons would go before Pitts.

I'm not convinced that Micah couldn't be an amazing TE. We need 22 of him.

- I thought it was a debate among fans and shock value media,...than the Cowboys war room staff.
more of a real debate was the two rookie CBs J C Horn and Patrick Surtain Jr. ..over Parsons.

- I would think TE Kyle Pitts was definitely indeed on the Cowboys valued draft board and had to be of some
consideration as what if he did somehow slipped to Cowboys 10th overall pick.
They would have to be at least some discussion with a " generational" TE

BTW, the Parsons selection kinda reminds me of the Luka Donic .. in that no one that he would turn out this good .. this dominant.

If there was such thing as a draft re-do .. Parsons would have likely been top 3 overall instead of 12th overall ..

.mysterious good luck bad luck with NFL draft
Ditto with TJ Watts,.. and who ironically was definitely on the Cowboys- McClay draft board. ..

If his rookie year is any indication, Micah Parsons is going to be the face of the Cowboys' defense for the next decade. Simply put he's a generational talent.

I think we were fortunate due to circumstance. We kind of knew the Eagles were looking for a WR. Then Chicago traded up for Fields because the Eagles got the WR the Giants wanted. We're kind of lucky they were both looking for WRs. Imagine him on one of those teams terrorizing us? If Pitts somehow fell, I'm sure Jerry would have picked him. Then Parsons probably goes to the Cards if no one traded up for him.

I didn't like parsons coming out and would of been sick if the eagles took him. He fits your scheme and has been a game changer. I can only hope he regresses or becomes the locker room cancer I thought he would be. I did love Devonte smith but I'm not sure he can hold up with his slight frame. The draft fell perfectly for the cowboys, they got a great player and an extra 3rd round pick from a division rival, and screwed another division rival in the process. Not sure the 1st round could of went any better for you guys.

Locker room cancer? Why? He'd shown no signs of that, and had shown every sign of being a tough, hard nosed player w/ a dominant physical skillset. What in the world made you think locker room cancer?

He was labeled with character issues before the draft. Some draft analysts considered him a me first guy. Could they be wrong? Absolutely, but when he goes to a wwe event and comments "beat my current contract and I'll sign up right now", one has to wonder if those critics are correct.

anyone trying to make comparison doesn't understand the hierarchy of how players at each position effect games.its not even close having a hybrid OLB/ILB type that can play all over the defense and hes effecting every play his on the field either directly or indirectly when the OC has to take 2-3 players to block him and opens up other players to make the play,. compared to what a TE who was picked way higher then he should have and might have sold career but no way a TE can be as transformative as a player like MP.

No way Jose. Parsons is the truth. Best draft pick we’ve had since Emmitt possibly.
Man I hope that is true…Emmit held out his rookie season which is why he ended up with like 938 yards.. that is from memory so it can’t be right.
