Gilbert Gottfried, the comedy legend best known for his voiceover work and beloved characters has died. He was 67 years old.

“We are heartbroken to announce the passing of our beloved Gilbert Gottfried after a long illness,” Gottfried’s family wrote in a statement posted to his Twitter account. “In addition to being the most iconic voice in comedy, Gilbert was a wonderful husband, brother, friend and father to his two young children. Although today is a sad day for all of us, please keep laughing as loud as possible in Gilbert’s honor.”

This sucks. Almost like the passing of Norm where I never knew he was sick.

I used to not pay much attention to celebrity deaths, but I think it's a stone cold reminder of how old you've become. Guys like Gilbert Gotfried almost in his 70's. Seems like just yesterday he was the young comic freak with the funny voice.

Gottfried was an underrated comedian BTW. Got more roles for his stereotype, but dude had some funny lines.

He had been looking frail for years. Regardless, he continued making many public appearances, especially as a guest on late talk shows.

HIs voicework was Grade A, distinctive and seamlessly infused with his comedic style. His Iago in Aladdin, in my opinion, was almost as good as Robin Williams' Genie.

Rest in peace, Mr. Gottfried.

He was funny and made the most of his time here on Planet Earth. Would post some of his better stuff but it would be an insta-ban for me. RIP and prayers.

There's a Howard Stern clip where they play an answering machine message where Gilbert is speaking in his non-comedic voice. It's just as odd as his comedic voice with a slight hint of a mass murderer to it. It's really weird.

His voice made me cringe more than fingernails on a chailboard, but he was a funny guy.
